What do you have your anti aliasing turned to on your graphics card? Set it to 0 if you have it turned on.

In your graphics card settings, turn off anti aliasing.

Yep, 6990 is useless also. Nothing will run this game on the highest settings.. Even with a 6990, stutters like mad with SSAA 2x2 and I was getting 20-26fps leaving Altoona (In Winter Freeroam). Both GPU's hit a max of 76%.. !*not-ok*!

Well, I may hold off on the purchase of a new graphic card then.

Same here. Maybe when they enable more cores it will get better.

Oh man I'm sorry to hear that styckx! That was an expensive experiment. *!sad!*

Not really. I didn't just buy it for TS 2012.. That would be silly. :) I had a number of games that were a little too intense to play across three monitors at 5760x1080... The 6990 chews through those games now without even flinching. Like Bad Company 2 now runs at 40-50fps fully maxed out at 5760x1080... !*YAAA*!

Now if you really wanna have some fun.... add a 6970 to yer new 6990.
You'll have some awesome performance (beating two GTX580's in SLI) for less than the cost of a pair of GTX580's !*salute*!

Sadly even this super high-end combo isn't able to tame TS2012 though !*not-ok*!
But everything else will FLY! !!*ok*!!

BTW, how do you find the fan noise of the 6990 ?

It's not nearly as bad as all the reviews say.. Yes, it can get ridiculously loud fully maxxed out, but that's hard to do just gaming unless you game from inside a steam room.

Anyway, back on topic.. This convo is for the geek speak forum. :)

All this talk about monster computers not being able to run RW3 all maxed out with decent and consistent frame rates brings up a question...........

Has anyone ever heard what RSC uses to develop and test run this software? What are THEIR framerates like....?

I'm puzzled why you're getting such bad stutter... I've never had it run so smoothly for me before. !!det!! No matter what the frame rate, the frames tick off in near-perfectly (as near as my eye can tell) even time intervals. I have DOF and Bloom turned off, "Highest" on everything else; could that be a cause?? !*don-know!* Am running the HSC route nicely; my Alleghany route is a drag, though. But no stuttering, it's just slow. Edit mode is slower than before, but I've having fewer screen stutters there, too (they could be 2-3 seconds long sometimes in RW2).

Maybe the new build will help.

Re: Trainsimulator 2012 - Problems and the IET

Unread postby djchristi » Tue Sep 27, 2011 6:38 pm

I too have had strange problems on the NEC. Random uncouplings (and if I stop and back up to the "lost" cars at a very slow speed they suddenly start moving towards the engine and collide). I also have had AI collisions on the Keystone Scenario with a freight on the outside track. As a former Penn Station commuter I enjoy poking around Penn Station. I'll have to get some LIRR trainsets to make it look right. Yes, it is too bright as others have commented.

It got so bad I decided to make a new Free Roam Scenario with the Hitachi IET. Cloned the Big Apple Scenario and built a six car set. I wasn't paying attention and my on my first try I used the "trailer" coaches which are unpowered - very anemic. After replacing them with the powered versions (they have vents on top) I set off for Philly. Acceleration is still a bit lacking but top speed makes up for it. I managed a sustained 154 mph over several stretches of New Jersey - and no uncoupling! The IET tainset generates very nice flange squeal going across points and small radius curves (like those numerous examples just north of Philly). Nice job developers - it sounds great. As noted above the pantograph is a bit short and does arc frequently. I originally thought this was the cause of the initial lack of power but apparently not. A very fun run NY to Philadephia and back (although I don't begin to understand the ins and outs to the lower level of 30th St. Station.)

I got very frustrated trying to build my train at the Penn Station platforms but had no trouble at the "designated" locations just inside the East River tunnels. I don't think the editor likes to place engines and rolling stock on top of switches, and there are a lot of them there. The graphic "barriers" (they look like walls) just inside both ends of the station in Edit mode is weird.

Someone above mentioned a fix for the NEC uncoupling bug. Could you please post a link to it? Thanks.

The update gives some strange things to me. Loading a scenario gives me this picture (screenshot2)
Also for BSB, HSC and Castle Rock. Some are ok, Fort Kent and IIR.
The Bay of Quinten lost all track ( bay2). Did verify integretie, cleared blueprint cache, reinstalled
scalerail HD. No luck. If this is discussed before please point me there.
Any idea welcome.

Also pretty smooth here even when the fps plummets; there is still micro-stuttering but it's less noticeable than RW2 for sure.

I'm not going to drop £500 on a gfx card ( for starters I don't have it :P ) but I think I may do a more modest replacement. Nearly 3 years is an eternity for gfx cards anyway.
