Today? Today is only the 22nd. Where's you get that info?

It memory serves, they have always released using Pacific Time.

From a very confusing post on Facebook.

"Train Simulator 2012 will be rolling out to existing users of RailWorks 2 via Steam around 01:00 GMT/1700 PST tomorrow and will be an automatic update for all RailWorks 2 users as soon as you go online."

So, Pacific time right now is GMT -7, so subtract 7 hours from 01:00GMT tomorrow and you get, ah heck, you get 6PM Pacific tonight, not 7PM as listed. Now I am really confused..... !*don-know!*

FWIW the FAQ (http://www.railsimulator.com/newsdetail.php?Ref=319) says the update is scheduled for 0100 UK time on 23SEP. UK time is currently GMT+1, since they're still on Summer time. Correspondingly, this would be GMT-4 for EDT, -5 for CDT and -7 for PDT. There is a further note in the FAQ to the effect that it might be as late as 0300, since they have on direct control over the implementation of the update. Those of us on the East Coast are liable to be up late tonight. Those on the West Coast will probably have the option of getting to sleep at the usual time, but I wouldn't bet on many of them doing so *!lol!* ...

Three items that jumped up at me off of the FAQ to be aware of.

I’ve just been upgraded, but why don’t I get all the new features?

To ensure minimal disruption, we’ve initially set the graphics engine to run in a mode to provide the maximum compatibility for existing customers. You can enable the new graphics engine on the setting tab of the initial Train Simulator 2012 menu.

Why have you kept a compatibility mode?

Some legacy content will not work with the new graphics engine. We’re working hard to fix these problems, but we have left this mode in to endure that you can continue to enjoy all of the content you have bought.

Some of my routes and locos don’t look right. What’s wrong?

If you have bought third-party add-on routes, they may not be fully compatible with Train Simulator 2012. Try disabling the Trains Simulator 2012 graphics engine and rerunning the scenario.

If I had to guess, this may refer to legacy addons from the original KRS platform and the first iteration of RW. I still have a handful of these around, and while at least most of them have been recently updated, I haven't had the time to chase (much less install) the updates.

You are forgetting to add the "Steam Time Disruption Field Equation" *!greengrin!*

Barring a major delay at Steam, that's highly probable.

Remember that the UK is on Summer time (GMT+1), so it's more like 0000 GMT and 2000 EDT. Sure, it's only an hour's difference, but it's an hour in your favour. :D

Well that certainly sounds like a mess.

Tomorrow (or tonight?) promises to be a very exciting day for us as evidenced by the number of posts about skipping work and losing sleep. I just hope in everyone's excitment that we all keep some temperment of ourselves when we encounter our individual disappointments in some aspect or two of this initial TS'12 release and understand that this is a major upgrade like no other we've seen yet... every detail will not be perfect on the first run. I expect that the version number of the new product will reflect the depth and complexity of this new version with new engine underpinnings and still-to-be-refined new features. From experience, I've seen users/clients of computer systems to "overhype" themselves about new releases resulting in loss of temperment over relatively insignificant faults or oversights. Let us not fall victim to bad behavior such as we sometimes see in our online communities. While I'm sure that RSC will appreciate useful and concise feedback, I hope I don't come online tomorrow to find broad, bad-tasting, generalities (e.g. "This blows" or "The whole thing is crap"). I know for a fact that some RSC folks have lost sleep, missed meals, and poured their heart and soul into making the new version everything it can be, given the financial and time constraints common in today's world. I dare say Paul Jackson himself may find sleeping to be a challenge tonight!

In simple terms, if a spot of water looks a little murky, let's not throw out the baby with the bathwater! You know that RSC will continue to fix and refine as they have so graciously done in the past; if you find a problem, report it and wait patiently for info or the next patch. From what I've seen and heard there will be plenty of new experiences, sights, sounds, and fun to keep us busy while we all gain a thorough understanding of TS'12 and refine the greatest new thing in train simulation together.

!!howdy!! <<<a tip of my bonnet to everyone at RSC *!!thnx!!*
