They really need to set up a good business model...a pricing structure that they abide by for ALL releases. Standardization will be good for everyone - they can work more efficiently and we will know what to expect when they send out a press release. They need to clean up and standardize all the terminology they throw around so we (and they) know what they're doing...right now we have releases, updates, enhancement packs, version 2's, fixes...no one really knows whats what.
I agree, it seems that over at RSC it is a bit of a free for all when disscussing terminology and the like. Its like the wild west over in the studios it seems sometimes. I like how Captain Sim(FSX Addons) have recently setup their structure. They start with the beta, which is 40 bucks, so a person can play around with the plane while it is being developed, and what is nice is that all updates, even V1 final and beyond is already included in the price if a person buys before the "offical" V1 release. Then the final release is 60 dollars to people who did not buy the 40 dollar experiemental version. Its nice, it is uniform and easy to understand.
