They really need to set up a good business model...a pricing structure that they abide by for ALL releases. They need to clean up and standardize all the terminology they throw around so we (and they) know what they're doing...right now we have releases, updates, enhancement packs, version 2's, fixes...no one really knows whats what.

I agree, it seems that over at RSC it is a bit of a free for all when disscussing terminology and the like. Its like the wild west over in the studios it seems sometimes. I like how Captain Sim(FSX Addons) have recently setup their structure. They start with the beta, which is 40 bucks, so a person can play around with the plane while it is being developed, and what is nice is that all updates, even V1 final and beyond is already included in the price if a person buys before the "offical" V1 release. Then the final release is 60 dollars to people who did not buy the 40 dollar experiemental version. Its nice, it is uniform and easy to understand.

Yall are tilting at windmills. RSC is going to do whatever they are going to do. Discussing it here does little good. If you want to get their attention do it on their forums or blogs.

Unfortunately, that's probably quite true, and I think most of us know that. Perhaps we dont intend on 'getting their attention' but simply discussing. RSC is going to do what they please regardless of where its posted. What are we supposed to talk about here, since I get the feeling this civil discussion that doesnt break any forum rules is being discouraged?

You do realize you are all not obligated to buy the new locomotive? Perhaps you are misinterpreting what they are saying. All core upgrades and TSX upgrades are free of charge, model changes are not and never have been. The new ES44 required Sherman Hill and no one was in such a ruckus over that.

I emailed Dodge about my free upgrade when the new 2008 Ram Trucks with the 6.7L engine came out and they laughed at me for some reason! Its the same truck it just has a better engine but they still told me no *!rolleyes!*

In that sense, they should be charging for the Donner Pass Enhancement Pack. And they're not. It is not a core upgrade, or a TSX upgrade. The stock Donner Pass was built on the TSX platform. The Enhancement Pack includes many new models (tree models, scenery, etc).

Apparently there have been no changes to the IHH models, neither the Big Boy or Challenger.

I thought my above post was pretty clear and balanced...what I was saying more than anything the reason why this thread exists is because RSC has no product release structure whatsoever. They have a loose framework that morphs and changes over time, causing confusion and feelings of deception. But, hey, apparently this topic is bringing some bad energy around these parts, so I'll let it be now. *!rolleyes!*

I just ran the Photo Shoot scenario in the IHH Challenger. With the nice physics upgrade by bpetit and a few cabview tweaks, its still a very nice package. I have little interest in buying the upgrade now, but I'm willing to see what they bring to the table when its released.

Regarding your comparison with your Dodge Truck, so...you get a free TSX upgrade through dodge? !*salute*! Just joking with you.

They should not charge forDP as it was known from the beginning to be below par and they chose to correct their rushed and incomplete asset. The original BB was not incomplete and this model was put together by RSC not IHH. RSC does not owe anyone an upgrade to the IHH model that's ridiculous. IHH could post a TSX update and I'm sure it would be free.

Dodge does flash new calibrations into the ECM for free (core updates) and fix warranty issues for no or very little charge (similar to DP). But they don't owe me the latest and greatest every time something new comes out. Again where were these threads when the new ES44 was going to be packaged with SH and therefore required purchase for a rolling stock upgrade?

I'm not trying to step on any toes fellas I quite enjoy this game and board but they have people to pay and a business to run. If it ain't worth $20 don't buy it but I'm quite sure it will be worth the small chunk of change.

No one is stopping you from talking here on this subject. It just started off a little dramatic, but you guys are pretty cool and just talking what you think. So don't be discouraged. And don't think RSC does not see this site. You have to stop and think what we represent here. It is a mostly friendly gathering of US people interested in Train Simulator 2013 and we talk about it and use it and make stuff for it and also get frustrated about some things. There is a lot of information going through here and we are generally positive people. It is a good place.

maybe because it's a Vehicle engine worth thousands and it's not a digital download that has absolutely no manufacturing costs.

False, it takes hours away from other projects and people, such as myself.

Incorrect. Each require research and development to produce a finished product. The only difference between the two is that one is in physical form.

The re-texturing in cab looks awful and the outside looks like someone went to CG textures, grabbed a leaking metal texture, pasted on it as a new layer and changed it to multiply. But really.. That cab texturing is absolutely atrocious and looks like it was done in MS Paint. Seriously why does the end of a giant boiler look like Styrofoam that was set on fire? It should look like like... Call me crazy here.. Metal...

Improved steam sound effects on the Big Boy to follow after initial release.

^ LOL

They are already telling you before release you're receiving an unfinished product. They are selling IOU's still.. !*roll-laugh*! Seriously.. They are selling an IOU.. Once again RSC shows how amateur they are..

I hope not a single person buys this and the profit margin for this is completely in the red.. All this sounds like the work of a forum member looking to make a quick buck and RSC threw in a TSX and material upgrade on their end because re-selling a repaint and some scripts would have sounded even more ridiculous then what they are trying to sell now.

Why don't one of you mad scientists on here fix the headlight in the Big Boy and then we will really have no reason to get the upgrade.

I just watched the youtube video of the Big Boy, an actually I think it is pretty cool, I especially like the steam/smoke effects. The one thing that worries me though is that in the video they have 2 BBs doubled heading, but the second BB is producing any smoke from the smoke stack. I really hope BETA testers, or RSC catch that!
