The more Penmsy the merrier...

If you are fan, that is true. But i'm not, and there are a LOT of other railroads and locomotives out there. The gap between the least-most modern RSC locomotive ( Dash 9 ) and the next locomotive (SD40-2) is about twenty years. And before that, there is a huge gap between the SW1500 and the GP9/F9. That is a lot of territory that needs to be covered, that encompasses a lot of time and a lot of models that have not been made - AC44/60, Dash 9 Spartan, B32-398, all of the U and Dash 7 series, Alco R's and Centuries, SD70 Spartan, GP/SD50, GP39/59, EVERYTHING below GP/SD38 - but yet we are going to get a Centipede. And there is a crapload of mainstream mainline steam that needs to be built. But alas, we will get one more locomotive that is useless for modern railroading, and only a NICHE run on a specific railroad in specific time frame.

Directly to RSC I will say that just because you photographed it at Strasburg doesn't mean that we want it in the game.

Why do you guys think that RSC made this 3rd party developer make this engine? Am I missing something? If a 3rd party developer makes lesser known loco, so what. All RSC is doing is selling this loco. !*don-know!*

Whatever, I know I, and many others are very excited! !!*ok*!!

It comes down to this, when this engine is released I will not spend my money on it.
I am willing to spend my money on Alco's, Geep's, 80 & 90 MAC's.
Come on, if you really want to release an old engine, why not release a Fairbanks Morse CFA 20-4

Looks good. This was in the times when engines had distinctive looks.
IMO, there hasn't been a good-looking engine since the 60s.
They're all square boxes now, all looking exactly the same.

I'm sure that RSC will cancel their plans for this engine and adopt your suggestions immediately! !*lho*!

I was doing a little research and saw that UP originally ordered 2 of these units, but soon canceled them after they were built. I don't know if these ever made it to UP territory, but from my perspective, these look good. It shows that RSC has not forgotten about the HSC and is continuing to add new rolling stock. I hope this shows promise for new routes like Sherman Hill and hopefully the updated Donner Pass with stock like a revamped Challenger and Big Boy, UP 844, or a rotary plow. Let's just keep a cool head and go from there with whatever they have to bring us *!!wink!!*

Now what is this? Did the Centipede have an articulated frame (like the GG1)? Or is this perspective distortion, with the carbody not being aligned with the undercarriage?

You can clearly see the gap here between the body and the underframe so the answer would be yes!

Thanks for those pictures. With the dark Pennsy colours the gap is hardly noticeable.

Not a pretty engine from any angle, but still an impressive piece of machinery, especially in the back-to-back 6000 hp configuration.

This engine was listed among the US' biggest Diesel flops of all time! They were a maintenance man's nightmare!

That is the reason why maybe this loco comes with a horrible collection of mechanical failures. *!twisted!*
