actually... I just thought of something.

I wouldn't have to destroy the original light texture. Close up its fine. I think what people want is the lens flare look from a distance. If so this means I could make a child object with an invisible texture up close (1_0250) and the flare effect from a further distance (1_1200). Kinda like what SMM has done with his signals. Then hook in the script to activate them when the engine lights are on. I'll play around with it, but don't count on anything for about a month. I still owe people other models.

Papa, here is the post of SCLALINE about:
Headlight Idea for locos
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=5088

I guess if you combine two objects in 90º angle, you can simulate the 3D effect, like is done with old trees of game. Good luck, it would be a great asset for engines....

Cheers,
Doc.

I am only talking about the lens flare. I am not going to attempt to make a 3D half sphere of light (show me a real picture of that).

I'll mock something up in a month or so.

I have problem, once again with Headlights, and it's got me stumped. When I press the "H" key, the projected lights on the locomotive come on, but the lens shapes don't render in the on position. If I hit the key again, same thing happens with the rear lights. HOWEVER, if I use the light button on the HUD, or the lightswitch from the cab, all lights work fine and render as they are supposed too!!! What has me puzzled is that of this were a script OR a keyboard issue, the lights shouldnt work for the HUD or cab either.

Anyone seen this before?

Just in case, recheck your InputMapper if you did one... the keyboard hotkeys are controlled by InputMappers. But I guess that is not your case once headlights/rearlights turn on when you hit H.
