Paul (IHH) gave up the Big Boy to RSC so all updates are handled by Steam. You will get them automatically, as long as that checkbox in the games Properties> Updates folder is checked to automatically keep the game updated.

yes but if you bought it direct from ihh then its not registered on your steam account so therefore it wont update

Exactly as said above.

Since I also bought it from IHH, means if I ever want a update I'm going to have to buy it over again.

Maybe you should contact RSC and ask them.

Ummmm, yes, it will. RSC and Steam took over the Big Boy and Challenger, when (if) they get updated, as long as you have that check box checked, they will update. If the loco is in your RW list, it will get updated.

RSC probably won't answer, except with a "canned" response, Paul at IHH may be a better bet to ask.

think of it like this steam has a list of the dlc you have bought from them. even if the big boy is npw under rscs control if you purchased it from iron horse house it came in the form of an ordinary RWP not a code or anything to link it to steam so as far as steam is concerned it is not the same add-on as the one available from them it is a random add-on that wont be automatically installed if you download railworks on another pc i know this for a fact because i bought my copy direct from ihh and when i got a new computer i then had to dig around on my old one to find the original rwp which also means that if it does not install with steam because it came from ihh then it will not be updated by steam either

Not making sense. I recently reloaded Win 7 because of a hard drive crash. When I reinstalled Steam and RW, my IHH Big Boy was there. I only had a few other misc DLC that wasn't there. But I did buy the Big Boy from IHH (Paul).

hmm sorry if it didnt make sense it was 3 in the morning when i wrote that post but think of it this way if you have the original rail simulator version of the iow then install it on railworks if you have to reinstall railworks steam wont download it as steam has no record of you purchasing the dlc so why would they install something that in their eyes you don't own same thing applys with the big boy if bought from ihh

I suspect Paul provided the listing of who had bought Big Boy and Challenger from him when he turned it over to RSC.

I know everytime I buy from him I have to give him all my information (name, addy, etc.) so it wouldn't be any kind of chore to check his list against the Steam/DLC list of your original sign-up info.

But the real solution here is to ASK THEM. Paul or RSC, take your choice.

I've been reading this stuff about the bigboy and challenger and here's my problem.

I originally bought the bigboy from IHH, but not too long ago I had too re-install Windows. I did not do a backup of my Railworks folder as I wanted to start fresh with everything, but I did think that I had made a back up of some of the 3rd party DLC's. It turned out that I did some but not the bigboy, so I sent an email over to IHH explaining what happened, and asking if I could obtain another download link. I never received a reply so I sent one over to RSC telling them that I emailed IHH, They replied,
Thank you for contacting the Railsimulator.com customer support.

Did you make the purchase from Steam? unfortunately we will be unable to help with any purchases made from a third party supplier directly,
especially if it was made prior to it being available from us via Steam, if you did purchase it from Steam their system would prevent a duplicate download anyway.

So after receiving this email I figured I would sent another email to IHH, and another (that's 3), I also posted on the IHH facebook page, no reply. **!!bang!!** So after all of this I still have no bigboy unless I buy it of steam, which I shouldn't have to do as I have the proof to say that I purchased it from IHH. *!mad!* It just sucks, I want to be able to drive this huge locomotive, and have it before I get Sherman Hill.

For what it's worth, I just took a look at the IHH website, specifically at the "News" tab. One entry there reads as follows:

"Withdrawal from STEAM
"I have removed IHH locomotives from STEAM, this was my decision and is in full agreement with RSC.
"Reasoning behind it is that revenue does not match that from the web site, and restricted my ability to offer packages and special offers...... RSC were also in the same boat."

The "Patches" tab does not have a link attached to it, by the way.

So, for all the breast-beating, what actually will happen (if it happens) is what happens with 3rd party stuff anyway:

You go to their website and download an upgrade patch or the new version of the model/route/scenario pack, etc.

And I assume Paul provides RSC with the (hoped-for) upgrade patch so they can send it to those (like myself) who bought their BigBoy through Steam. Though I'm easy either way, I can just as simply go get it from IHH.

Of course that all depends on whether or not he upgrades BigBoy and Challenger for TS2012. I wouldn't hold my breath on it, though.

Paul, while he is always very helpful, will pass it on to RSC/ Steam. He no longer owns the Big Boy. Not much he can do about it..

IoW didn't show up as well? Have you verified the game files? You may have to do it several times until no missing files are found.
