All right, I'll bite. How about projecting lights? The screenshots shown verify that the headlights illuminate the ground directly in front of the engine. However, without a cabview screenie at night, we cannot see if there is a reasonably lengthy light cone being projected down the track. Fifty or a hundred feet is better than we had but not what I would like to see in a mature model.

Hiya,

Its completely definable by the model author. A big light, a small light, a colored light, what ever is appropriate, can be added as a child object in the blueprint. RSC could spent a vast amount of time trying to define all the setups people could ever want, and I'm sure some would still be missed. So instead, we simply make the setup procedure open to be defined by the model author.

That would suck: you step off for a smoke, and the AI steals your train.
Then you have to walk all the way down to the next station because your cell phone was in the cab.
Over the hill and gathering speed

I wouldn't like to start putting distances on it, but the effect was excellent - way ahead of MSTS in realiam.

You now just have to hope that the individual model maker is prepared to revisit their work and re-release with the light mods made. Freeware not an issue, just not sure how the payware vendors (Dick Cowan and Rick Grout) would approach this.

The next question is, whether the info for the model light mods will be available before the update comes out so that a start can be made. This applies to the route builders etc (like Tori) so that street / yard / building lights etc can be addressed.

Looking forward to seeing the video promised for this week to see what we are in for...

!*cheers*!

I'm excited about the new release coming in September! ! ! Everything I've read makes me even more ready to welcome the new version. One thing I am really hoping for is a paint program that we can build structures and directly install them into our custom RailWorks routes and scenerios. I am finally getting the hang of the Google Sketchup. But when it comes to getting my buildings into the right format and into my custom routes, I have failed miserably. I have read everything I can find about how to do this but have had no luck. Anyone have any ideas?

I don't disagree that the screenshot provided is very impressive. In fact, it is now my Desktop Wallpaper!

I'm most exited about the removal of stencil shadows and the new lighting sources that are added post production. Creating realistic night lighting is going to be a lot easier.
The word?..The word is no. I am, therefore, going anyway..
