Vancouver would be awesome to model but also a massive task and I am not sure how you could do it and keep framerates acceptable.

Very very interesting from a railroading perspective - with 4 passenger companies (VIA, Amtrak, West Coast Express and Rocky Mountaineer), Roberts Bank, North Van and all the yards around there, CN, CP, BNSF and SRBC. (if you modelled pre-2001 then you would have BCR as well).

Not something for the faint hearted to model.

Vancouver would also have (depending on era) BC Electric Railway (BCER), BC Hydro Railway or Southern Railway of BC.

You've also got 3 or 4 different terminal stations depending on era as well Pacific (CP - now VIA, Amtrak and until 2005 RMR), Waterfront (CP now West Coast), North Van (BCR, Royal Hudson steam trips till about 2000) and the CN terminal which is now used by RMR (since 2005).

Needless to say it would be an absolutely mammoth task to model it.

ive looked at the layout of vancouver and its tricky to say the least. more do-able than Portland, since its near a larger body of water. the water knocks out 1/2 the tiles so they dont have to be occupied by things. Portland has just the columbia river, more tricky! sicne the other side needs the skyline. But I want to do Portland more. At this point after doing seattle I can do any city. I am putting in some more buildings new bridge lofts and odds and ends and i'll be set to move on out of there!

there is alwayse the possibility of after finishing portland if you feel like it you can move north, will be the FIRST route with 3 major railroad sections if you do it.

I'll think over it. lets see how quickly i can burn through 144 miles of track. If i go to Tacoma, Wa (50 miles south) and feel that is a good end location since there is a huge yard there(bay yard), as well as an amtrak station, then the journey north might be a better move, since I left seattle open-ended. vancouver is a nicer looking city(120 miles north) than portland afterall. we shall see!

hey guys. so heres the update with the route. I am pushing back its release date to August 31st 2011, id like to just get as close to tacoma as possible with the scenery at 100% rather than some.
the route is really solid from A-B but at this point its mostly a switching route in the seattle industrial area. I want to get some more mainline action and commuter action too since i found there are 4-5 Amtrak stations along the way to Tacoma. It takes a long time to make buildings and bridges etc...I need more time lol.

Most importantly I want to see if they will release the block asset maker and increased the LOD tiles. it will be so much better to group buildings, trees and such. Basically everything hinges on the NEC route expected to be released at the end of July. I will release my route when A.No other rw.com US routes are released near it, and B. the technical updgrades are made.

not to mention its summer time and Im burnt out at this point, and heading to Scotland in July! Dont worry this route will be top dog when I release it. most likely just include the whole 50 mile trip to tacoma from seattle. I'll update you guys in mid july! thanks for your understanding and patience.

regards,

Ian
