Love the videos, hope those guys don’t mind a mention http://7ideaproductions.com/catalog/index.php I just keep watching the Donner Pass video, stunning.

Wow Paul, I'm also a big fan of 7ideaproductions.
Their videos are amazing and they have great customer service.
My latest addition was also the Donner Pass BluRay. An amazing video. !!*ok*!!

They weren't posted under the label of RSC, but by Paul Jackson himself.
So either you scroll down a while on RSC's Facebookpage or you search for Paul's Profile. !*salute*!

Continuing my look at the new technology that’s been coming together over the last nine months or so. As before It’s from my notes built up over time so feels a bit stream of consciousness like, that’s deliberate otherwise it will just sound like a load of jumble and it won’t make sense even to me!

Right what am I not seeing yet. The new loading and unloading of wagons on the move, I just can’t see it yet. I think I am seeing the start of the new passenger interactions, feels like they are making progress. I have seen people waving at the train when you blow the horn at them…. I am not sure that will make it into release!!! We’ll see.

OK looking at the tools they are coming together well. The block asset tool looks very powerful to me. I guess you could lay whole forests pretty fast with that. Difficult to say as I am a rubbish route builder. Always incredibly impressed by those who build in RW, the tools are aimed at being able to create very high levels of detail and reality and are not for the faint hearted. Route builders are heroes!

Right I am fed up! Spending ages talking about everything except what I want to talk about… this thing is beautiful, I mean really beautiful. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! Mountains as far as the eye can see and over two thousand plus individual lights so far………… and that at a great frame rate. There, said it! If the marketing police want a piece of me! Bring it on☺!

Ahh! Block asset builder! Thar's what I be waitin' for!

Pardon me for seeming rude to ask, but any indication of when we might see some of these innovations? Particularly interested in the block assets.

When you say "mountains as far as you can see" and " 2000 lights", does this use multicore tech for RW? On my wish list is a recompile to 64 bit programing.

Yes, it was already announced some months ago I think.
The area that is rendered around the player will increase some miles, this also means distant mountains.
The block assets is the feature I'm looking forward the most of all.

Hi Guys, Derek has posted this on UKTS. Think it might be interesting.

I lay a small decal, I want a couple of trees in it so I type 2 in the correct slot, Actually I wanted a much larger coverage so I drag a corner out for 1000M, you know I want lots of trees, so I type in 5000. Hmm thats not where I wanted it, so I move the decal across the landscape and rotate it to where I wanted it. All the while the trees follow the terrain.
As for performance... its stella.

Yeah thats what I need, in the 1200 hours I have in the route I am working, I bet I planted 50,000 trees allready and that using the clusters. But then I have to fiddle with each group to make them not be flying. Looking forward to it.

5,000! That is a lot of trees. The other simulator (which I shall not name) had a limit well below that. It is GREAT that you will actually be able to cover mountains with these. I think after the update that contains that is released, we may see an explosion of third-party routes being published.

I shall have to revise the estimate for when the NS-AND shall be finished from 4 years to 3 years 10 months! :) I'm also hoping that this will work on ANY tree in the Railworks arsenal (especially generic oak) and not just a few selected ones.

Thank you for all the hints you are providing us Paul, you sure know how to tease us *!greengrin!* Once again, ( and i have said this in many posts ) the Railworks team are stepping up to the plate, improving the simulation. Its great to know that the team at RW HQ are avid railfans themselves ! This simulator has a bright future indeed. Cant wait for all the new stuff..

Bravo to Paul and his team of developers. !!*ok*!!
