I have the "somebody stole something from me" syndrom like many other people. I am just setting back and watching for now. If they can delete entire files ( or what ever ) online, then RSC should be able to fix it the same way however all of this happened. To me this is going to show me just how interested they are in the US market & how they expect the US market to WANT to purchase their DLC. Not exactly batting 1000 here.

Saturday morning, after a frustrating session with Railworks, I decided to take a break and head down to the real railroad tracks to catch some action. Lo-and-behold, a northbound appeared with a Dash 9 as the secondary unit. I momentarily lost contact with reality and a wave of fear swept over me. i expected that at any moment, the entire world would disappear, and in it's place a giant black box would appear, with these words printed in bold on it's side...

Well, as long as you actually saw the locomotive, Jerry, and not 2 couplers with a huge gap in between was something I guess.

I'm glad I backed up my original Dash 9 Folder, at least I have something to play with. This issue of RSC thinking only a few folks had problems with this locomotive update is deeply embarrassing and quite offensive, even the DLC pack has now disappeared off the Steam website, it's been a week and they still haven't got it sorted out, disturbing, indeed, they had the same problems with the Service Pack 1 upgrade in June, I hope this isn't the way they conduct themselves in the future, what's the next locomotive for upgrade, the ES44AC, better get your packs BACKED UP now ladies and gentlemen, you know what's goin' to happen. !*not-ok*!

Why do they not return the original files for a steam download until they are able to fix the problem? In other word reverse what they have done!

I've turned off automatic updates, taken Steam offline, and firewall-blocked the program from the Internet. I'm still convinced that the brief "Steam has updated TS2012" message I got Saturday morning had something to do with my C39 projected light issues, so i'm not letting the program anywhere near the net. As far as i'm concerned, updates-be-darned, i'll not go back online unless a new version of the program is released, and even then, i'll be checking the forums and Farcebook for grieving fans before I do it.

No worries though folks. If the Dash 9 still ain't right in 12 days, we'll bring the C39-8's out of mothballs to pull some freight!

If you go the the Facebook site of RW, speak nice. They have a new coffee cup picture up.
I said "If it leaks, they will make an upgrade for it, and take 2-3 weeks to deliver it, maybe"
It was up for 20 mins.,then wiped out. !*not-ok*!

If we all did the same as you, then you would not have fans that notice you if they work well or not the simulator.

I just see it now. Very complete article. We will have to be patient.

Ok, I stopped reading that load of Bantha dung where it said "a very small number of users"... If you look at the number of forum memberd who have posted problems vs those who say theirs is ok, its a very small number of users who haven't experienced a problem. Mine is broken, but I haven't reported simply because it's already been reported several times. Surely RSC realizes that not everyone will email them for this reason or because they haven't seen the problem yet?

They also seem to be forgetting the other 5 fubars we have had over the last year when they imply that quality is high on their priority list. Just like has been said, their new blog seems to be leaning towards rosey propaganda, with little bearing on reality.

@dejoh - you're doing it wrong. My Farcebook posts last at least an hour!

@Bermudez - If we all started doing the same thing, then maybe when sales of new DLC didn't instantly materialize, RSC MIGHT just take notice and put a little more quality control in place. But i've no worries there. The Good Book says there will always be someone who will be first in line to risk their wallet (or computer) for a suspect upgrade.

Ok, i've had my say on the matter, i'm done. It's broke, it'll be fixed (sometime), thats that, patience is not optional.

People tend to post problems rather than post "Hey everyone! This works!" Also a large amount of people don't use forums.

This is because every update has been a mixed bag. For example SP1 worked great for me, I even praised RSC for getting it right, but sadly a few other (this time a true handful) did not get it sorted out until a few days later. If you think about it, before TS2012 the only complaints where from the rivet counters. the SD70, GP9 and SW1500 releases (to name a few) were well done and installed without problems.

That article shows RSC is pretty much in line with other software firms for normal maintenance processes.
Wile posting on forums or FB are good for venting frustrations, the only useful thing is to e-mail support.

What irritates me to no end, but is sadly also standard nowadays, is the customary meaningless PR-speak:
"Here at RailSimulator.com we work hard to ensure that our new releases are of the highest standard possible"
"Here at RailSimulator.com we strive to achieve the best, and testing is a big part of that."
"The quality of all our products from the largest route to the last nut and bolt on a locomotive is extremely important to us."
The worst is "Martin the head of social media team". The first half of his text, before "but", is just PR-speak.

PR zombies make you add that to whatever you publish, to prevent journalists, bloggers and lawyers to interpret your text as an admission of guilt.

"Her at BP protecting your environment is our highest concern. Despite our efforts, it appears we might have spilled a few drops in the Gulf..."

They need to keep a positive appearance to the rest of the world. They know there are only a handful of customers (comparatively) who are part of the industry and can see through the PR.

To add to my suggestion from above. Restore the original D9 files, add a new folder for th GE C44 9W. That way the 3rd party repaints and scenarios will still works while while 3rd parties create new repaints and scenarios.
