A, in my opinion, very important message from Derek:

"the class 47, 166 and SD40 have been remade and remapped.

How will that effect your old ones? they should function the same, however, new people who try and copy the geo file and apply the old skin will find that it will not work.
So, my advice for folks who want to keep old skins is to keep a back up of those files mentioned as they are now.
I don't think RS.com will have anything against folks adding the (RS2) geo files for those 3 core locos into the reskins.

regards

Derek"

I meant RWs2 and this is to do with current reskins of the SD40-2 (and Class47 and 166).
feel free to ask me any questions, I may not have the answers but I will be as clear as I can.

No, all addons will be as they are now.

In the past we have pushed out mini updates from time to time, it is just like that... but much much bigger

So I have a question for the RW team, maybe RSDerek can answer. I just brought this sweet machine, and I am loving how RW2 is performing on it. The stuttering is still there, but it's barely noticeable, and the machine doesn't struggle to run the game as it loads up the next tile. However, one of my concern is when RW3 comes out, will I still get that same stellar performance, or will I need to do some minor upgrade to get that stellar performance back?

My machine:
Phenom II X4 955(3.2GHz)
4GB of RAM
1TB of HD
Wins 7, 64 Bit
NVIDIA GeForce GT 520 (1 GB)

You'll be fine. FAQ's on TS2012 says if a PC can handle RW2 fine it can run TS2012 (how true that is not sure). With that in mind your graphics card might hold it back. Card was made with OEM and office PC's in mind (I actually haven't looked at new cards since I installed my current card). Also I read somewhere RW2 doesn't even use your graphics card (or all that it can use).

Here's mine just for the heck of it:
- Motherboard: MSI 785GM-P45.
- Processor: AMD Athlon x4 640 @ 3.0 GHz.
- Memory: 4GB: Corsair XMS3.
- Graphics: MSI Nvidia 250 GTS @ 512mb.
- Operating System: Windows Ultimate 64-bit.
- HDD: 232GB.

I also see we are 11 days (from this post) to RW3. *!greengrin!*

It has also been stated by RS.com that RW3 can utilize (processors with) multiple cores, where as RW2 does not, so you may actually see an improvement based on that.

Yeah, if this is true, it will be a marked improvement for anyone with a multicore CPU.

What exactly everybody wanna mean with "utilize multiple cores"'? I have a Dual Core since RS and noticed that RS/RW2 have always used both processors, but the overall usage (of both processors together) never gone beyond 50%.

I haven't been around long, but as far as I can tell, RW2 only uses one core. Usually one of my 4 cores (Q6600) will be at 75-85%, and the other three will be at 10-30%, since the OS shifts everything off the core that is being heavily used.

Elite Marksman, I have the same processor as you, and i'm seeing similar performance numbers. One CPU running high, the others nearly idle. Today, i did stack another brick of memory in my system for a total of 8GB, and i'm seeing no improvement in RW2 performance. I think if you get above about 4GB, you aren't going to get much more umph out of the game as far as memory goes. The biggest improvement that i've seen to date with RW was with the graphics card, which I fully expect to upgrade again once RW3 hits my machine.
