I like the way you're using less video ram with all that stock in the frame, Bill. Not confusing in the slightest!

Actually, that's because after the first shot I had to open Photoshop to paste the screenshot. So the second shot has Photshop open with an image loaded. I retested without Photoshop open and memory usage stays close to the same, just a little higher (about 25 megs) with the cars in it. Results were the same though. Drop and rise in framerates adding and remove cars but zero difference in GPU and CPU usage between the two.

Full of stock: 19fps / GPU Load: 69% / CPU load: 20%

Remove all stock: 31fps / GPU Load 69% / CPU Load 20%

So yeah.. Umm. I'm going to go have more fun dividing by zero than figuring this out.

GPU-Z must be misreporting something, that simply isn't possible...

And sorry, but I have to gripe here at Intel. Your i7-2600k DOES NOT HAVE 8 CORES INTEL. All Hyperthreading does is allows certain processing units to do something when they would otherwise be idle, it does not, however, allow them to act as a fully independent core. The still rely on whichever core they reside to provide them with data/instructions.

If you look really closely at the new people included with Horseshoe Curve, it looks like the geometry is changing! That's a hidden feature if its true.

Skinned meshes have always been included i.e. platform passengers and rail crew , look close at the passengers and you'll see the same deformation .Only difference I've noticed is the wavy guys on Horseshoe Curve look to use higher res meshes with maybe better textures .... can show you some pics if you want to see it in Max.

Seems we just had an update. Don't know what it does yet, and there is no revision number. 0439 ET. It seems multi-core may have been fixed, as it is no longer maxing out 3 of my 4 procs.

I upgraded my graphics card from a GTS 450 to a GTX 550 Ti. Frame rates are up in the 40's now, which is more than acceptable since Cinema quality is 29-30fps. Just enabled multi-core and 16x anti-alias through the graphics card, and things are looking pretty sweet. A couple issues that I do have though:

- .net framework is downloading and installing every time I start the sim.
- visible distance of signals and headlights are still unacceptable.

However, there are a few things I do like:

- US FlexiRow01 - Row of houses that you can put on the terrain and it automatically matches it. A blue print can be created that would allow in some of the fine freeware additions we have had recently.
- Of course, bulk assets

If you go to /steam/steamapps/common/railworks and make a shortcut directly to Railworks.exe it will open the launcher without having to bother with going through steam. Since steam isn't trying to launch the game, steam wont try to install .net.

And yes, the signals are way too hard to see. On any of the other routes, I can at least make out red/green/yellow from .5-.6 miles out. On HSC, I'm lucky if I can see the aspect from .15 miles.

I've posted about this a couple of times in this thread, but new posts were added so fast it got buried in the melee. !*roll-laugh*!

Ok, so got it working well in RW2 emulation, and then turned TSX back on; marginal drop in fps, but still usable. Just leave all the shadows off...

Jaggies. The AA intergration is bad in 2012. I could get over most of my issues if I could kill the bad AA. Hopefully blowing $700+ will allow me to run Max SSAA.

Well, I guess my ATI Radion 4800 series is a little "long of tooth," being about four years old since I bought this computer.

So what do you have in your computer?

Any thoughts on the best video cards to get for RW3? I just may have to upgrade... !*salute*!

I swear I remember reading on one of these sites a RS person stating what we were running in RW 2 was more than enough to run the new version? I have been pretty lucky I can't run in TSX but it works just fine with it off, will probably have to get a new card. Waiting to see what would be a good choice. Lets go Mountaineers!!!!!!!

I figured now that most of the hoopla as died down a bit, that I'd move this thread into the General Discussion forum, and sticky it.

Its kinda tough to figure out...is anyone having texture/graphics glitches in only the windows as seen from cab view of any repaints of the ES44 or F7? The new default models display totally fine, but anything that ported over from RW2 has this texture shimmering that makes all the windows display odd parts of the cab interior. I've tried copying textures and new geometry files, and it doesnt seem to fix it.

I'm at a loss! The ported ES44s and F7s dont work, but the SD40s all do!

Heres an NS ES44 from cab view:
