Given it would be totally daft to have lights without variable brightness, even if you can't change an existing light you can just have two different ones of different brightness and switch between them.

Bailing off Brakes

Unread postby MattW » Thu Aug 04, 2011 4:51 pm

It doesn't appear, looking through the driver's manual for Railworks2, that the ability to bail off brakes was implemented for RW2. Does anyone know if it will be in RW3/TS2012?

I'm curious how the new shadow system is going to work. Currently nothing casts a shadow unless the model is built with a stencil shadow in place. It would be nice to know if the new system can work on any object. In the screenshots this does appear to be the case, so I am hopeful. It would be a huge boon to routes like Ft. Kent - Eagle Lake which has a lot of objects built without shadows.

In any case, I'm very excited for this :) Looks like a HUGE step forward in graphics.

Hiya, it seems Derek said that Stencil Shadow models are gone, and only Forward Facing objects won't cast shadows.

This is some terminology I'm not familiar with ( but I do know quite a lot about RW brakes ): can you explain in neutral language what this means?

Normally the brakes on the locomotives are applied in tandem with the train brakes using the train brake handle. Bail off (normally performed by depressing the locomotive brake handle down, or to the side on desktop installations) causes the locomotive brakes to be completely released, without releasing the train brakes. It is used when the dynamic brakes are applied, and for slack management.

Hmm. Well that's doable with scripting and the unintuative setting of the engine's train brake force to 0...
