You need to allow Steam to update Railworks. It sounds like you are either running in offline mode, or you have unchecked the option to receive updates.

Updating Steam--while a good idea--won't fix your Railworks.

Open Steam.

Right click anywhere in the window and choose the bottom option, "Properties".

In the window that opens, click on the "Updates" tab.

Make sure the first item ("Automatic Updates", a dropdown menu) is set to "Always keep this game up to date".

Click Close.

Close and re-open Steam. It should start what will likely be a looooong process of updating, if you truly have v.7 of Railworks.

Aren't dmp files just dump files, like when you get an SBHH and it asks if you want to create a dump file to send to support?

If that's all they are you can throw them away--but wait for some confirmation before you do that because I'm not sure.

At least you have also found out that you have the current version, 11.7b. :)

No one knows how to read dmp files, and if you send them to RSC you'll get no feedback. You can throw them into the trash. That's what I did with mines. IMHO, of course. !*salute*!

Is for no avail you keep it... this kind of file is created when you get a SBHH and answer "yes" to save the error log file and send it to RSC.

UPSD70Ace, dump (.dmp) files have nothing to do with verifying you have the latest version of Railworks. In its current implementation, they're essentially useless files altogether. As others are trying to tell you, when the program crashes it prompts you to create an encrypted copy of the problem. So far no one has been able to figure out how to read this file (aside from RSC), so there's really no reason to keep any of them - unless you enjoy a smaller hard drive.

Because they did not change the .exe version number with SP1; it still stands at 11.7b. So, there is no way you can tell if you received the service pack just by looking at the program launcher. The only way you might be able to tell is manually sorting through program folders to see if files got updated.

If in doubt, Verify Cache. Sometimes it takes a few tries for it to download everything.

Perhaps RSC doesn't know how to red DMP files, either? *!!wink!!*

If their programmer cannot load up a DMP in the debugger then they need to fire that person. It is not that difficult to do. My attempts were stopped because I did not have the symbol files, and the source code both of which RSC would have.
