I have a functional driving trailer; pretty sure they're used in the US somewhere still? anyway you can easily test it out by sticking a diesel behind an EMU on a non-electrified line and driving from the EMU.

My RW3 install looks like RW2 with bloom now, fps is acceptable though.

All going well for me and my buddy Dave Bowman. He sent me his first impression to share.

Woah!

If you look really closely at the new people included with Horseshoe Curve, it looks like the geometry is changing! That's a hidden feature if its true.

I was just trying to explain the .Net Framework stuff. Also, if Steam keeps trying to install .Net, see this post I made a few pages back.

No problem, Hawk *!!thnx!!*

I have the GTI Radeon 4800 series video card, and from the link you provided, they seem suggest I need to get a better Video card! Perhaps, but this is a very good card, the best I could include in this HP desktop when I ordered it, but...

...times change, and perhaps an upgrade is in order...but I will wait until I hear from the Steam folks and see what they suggest.

Thank God for this forum! I get good suggestions from all you folks! !!jabber!! (That's me, 82 years young!) !*cheers*!

Yea, yea yea, everybody is complaining about ATI cards! **!!bang!!** (I have the ATI Radion 4800 series card.)

But I will wait and see what the Steam folks say about my problem... **!!bow!!**

And thanks for your suggestions. They got me at least this far... *!!thnx!!*

Well,

I have set the everything to medium on the settings, and disabled the shadows. My computer was higher than all the requirements listed, and my video card is a Nvida 7800 GTX with 3.0 capabilities....this is what I get below. 24 hrs ago, I was running at 110 mph on the NEC...no problems. Horseshoe Curve was looking great until I headed out of the yard on the 1st senario..... Now, instead of enjoying the game... we become trouble shooters... Sometimes I wonder if we just push the limits too far for details...ie; people, clouds, scenery.. and it takes away from actually running the train.. Any ideas? Thanks.

Well I couldn't stand the choppiness so I broke down and went out and bought a video card this afternoon hoping that it would correct the problem.........and boy did it ever!!!!!! !*YAAA*!

I upgraded to a PNY GeForce 430 and I can now run eveything completely maxed out! The one thing I noticed though is TS2012 still shows my frame rates at 15 to 20 but I see no lagging and exprience no chop. Not really sure what that's all about. But for a much needed $80 investment I'm now able to enjoy the full capability of the sim. Well worth it in my book!

No, no, this isn't about the brand of card, it's about the age. In this case the card just doesn't support the game min requirements of pixelshader 3.0. You won't find me griping about my ATI. *!lol!*

Screenshots are odd. Take one at night, when it's all dark and such, then view it.. It's much more exposed, sky has a weird purple tinge to it.

Tried the HorseShoe on my old XP computer:

Alathon 64x2 Dual 3.01 Ghz
2 Gb Ram
Radeon HD 5670

On the low settings I was getting in the 19-25 FPS and it was running smooth

Until RW actually works on more than one CPU core, I can't make full use of my now rather old 4890 because it's limited by my i920. Ok so it does something on a second core, but it's not using it very much. Just upgrading your graphics card isn't necessarily the answer; run the Catalyst control centre and check how much GPU RW is using ( or whatever the nVidia equivalent is ).

BTW latest pixel shader is 5.0, Radeon X1300/Geforce 6 is the minimum for Pixelshader 3.

I get this from time to time (mostly when I alt+tab out) Actually - I got more of this in RW2 than I have so far with RW3. I have a similar era GeForce card - 8800GTS, I believe the error is related to the way the older cards render. I'm not for sure if it's a geometry or texture issue though. Sometimes alt+tab out and back can actually force the card to re-render the scene and fix the error, sometimes not.

My IBM does not have a PCI-E 16x slot, but it does have a AGP 8X slot. I found this graphics card (EVGA GeForce 6200 512MB DDR2 AGP 8X Video Card - 512-A8-N405-KR) that appears to support pixel shader 3.0. Am I right about this. I want to be sure it will work with TS 2012 before I buy.

TS 2012 is a odd bird.

I tossed a ton of rollingstock down to purposely kill framerates.

Full of stock: 19fps / GPU Load: 69% / CPU load: 20%

http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g37/s ... nk/low.jpg

Remove all stock: 31fps / GPU Load 69% / CPU Load 20%

http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g37/s ... k/high.jpg

So yeah.. Umm. I'm going to go have more fun dividing by zero than figuring this out.
