Who can forget the front coupler problem? It took users more than a year to fix. Go to pick up a string of cars
with the front of a loco, crash to desktop. Funny, there was'nt too much complaing to anyone then, except to each other.
Micro- flop could care less. !*don-know!*

Yes, I remember very well the early days of MSTS. If it were not for "MSTS bin George" taking care of issues like the front coupler bug, the Great White Void, lighting issues, sim options that were commented out and all of the other issues that were part of the original MSTS code, people would not be claiming it was the best thing since sliced bread *!twisted!* I'm not 100% fond of the direction RSC is heading, but at least we still have someone supporting the game !!*ok*!!

Thanks for the feedback. Well I switched to the Los Angeles server, verified my game cache and still no joy *!sad!* My two files are now 415 and 16 bytes as well so that did not cure the problem. Oh well time to go to the backup, go off line and wait patiently in the wings !**duh*!!

it appears that once it doesnt work on a machine, it stays not working regardless of the server you redownload it from.. I suspected it was anti virus interfereing, but i attempted replacing the files with anti virus turned off and there was no change..

Wellll, they have no control 0ver what files steam downloads or doesnt aso that areas kerfuggled, and beyond that, theres really no way for them to test the differences between one persons installation and machine, and another persons.. so, they're kind of in a rock and a hard place position..

I do not know if this is old news or not. I investigated all of my routes, and found that only one of my third party routes (Fraiser &Carriboo) had the Dash 9 Pack. I also found that with the execption of Colton & Northern, any route that was not downloaded through Steam did not have the Dash-9 Pack. If something like this happend to me when I was in my 20's, I would have been incline (shades of gray being what they were) to give the benifit of the doubt to the purvayer of the simulation as nothing more than a programers mistake. Today however, I am a lot closer to 60 than I was yesterday, and I have grown cynical. Perhaps the simulator's management believes in Henry Fords philosophy of catering to the customer. Frustrating for those of us who don't have a working copy, for sure.

Just curious, what are the file sizes of the two file in your Dash 9 folder that begin with an underscore "_" ? Also what video card are you using?

Rich S.

Well that would explain it. Both my "_.sbn" and "_.sbn.MD5" files are only 1KB. The only guy that replied was 415 and 16 respectively.

I'm not even going to waste my time trying to troubleshoot this, but my security files, the ones you guys keep asking about are 1kb. However, those files are the same size on the SD75.

Mine were too on this last install ( about five minutes ago ), and unfortunately, the dash 9 still does not function.. However, something to consider.. well a couple things..
Starting railworks, I selected drive by train and from the menu, selected the C44-9W and chose a free roam scenario. On loading the scenario however, it wasnt looking for the c44-9W but rather errored out saying it couldnt find the dsh 9-44CW. its looking for a different train than whats being loaded it seems.. Also, in the asset list manifest from the package manager the two .sbn files are still listed as missing. Evidently, railworks believes these are part of the manifest. whether that makes any difference in railworks loading the rest of the engine or not, i dont know..
