If they did that I'd have to reinstall RW just so I could uninstall it. !*roll-laugh*!

Excellent follow-up, Hawk! !!howdy!!

This just popped into my head while eating lunch: reports about the extent of folder structure changes are, not surprisingly, mixed, but if the overall arrangement of the assets area has been rearranged, won't a lot of the folks who create or modify assets have to rework their existing packages? That should keep everyone busy for a while! (Oh, no! I've been infected by the speculation bug! Is a vaccine available?)

Where do I find the list of changes / fixes / improvements ?

I think that is top secret information as this was the only information included in the email I received *!sad!*

On June 19th 2012, we are planning a major piece of software maintenance on Train Simulator 2012 ("TS2012"). This housekeeping process will bring an array of long-term benefits to the TS2012 software.

The Cajon Pass and Oxford-Paddington routes will have significantly improved graphics. The component files that make up TS2012 will be reorganized allowing us to continue improving the core software, core routes and the software’s efficiency. In addition, Service Pack 1 will lay the footings for prospective new features like Steam Workshop. Keep an eye on Facebook to find out what’s going on.

In summary the TS2012 folder structure on your PC’s hard drive will be rebuilt to give improved asset structures. Service Pack 1 is an essential part of a programme of updates to the core software and is the start of an on-going process which will see a rollout of more improvements shortly.

Unfortunately unless someone releases a file list, I guess the only way you would know if a file has been updated or added is if it has a file date of 6/19/2012. Not sure why RSC is being so cryptic about what they updated? Why do files have to be reorganized? Once I run my defrag program they are going to get moved on the hard disk. What improved asset structure did this update provide? Did RSC add more options to the bin files? Inquiry minds what to know !**duh*!!

I am still hesitant on taking the plunge on this update. until its verfied in writing, did the file structure changes cause default material dependent models to fail? or are they still good.

I saved the "content" folder to my desktop, and let her rip when the service pack began to download. When it finished, I verfied my files in Steam, and when I started Railworks 2012....

WALA! Everything was intact, including the route I am working on! (So far anywy...)

WHEW! I was worried a bit. And it seems I need not change-out the content file within, and so, at last, I got through an upgrade without troubles... (knock on wood)

Ok i'll back up my assets and source and content fodlers and let them rip after I release my sd60F. I am going on faith that the sd60F will work with the SP1 being that it is 90% using its own folders.

So far the only problem I had is that the Project Platform route doesn't work.

Finally got the download started on mine later last night, but I haven't had a chance to try it yet. As of this morning the 5 GB download had completed, but I guess there's another download after that. Don't know if that one took place after I left for work.

Interesting to read the responses here and over at Train-Sim. Over there it looks like they're assembling a crowd of people with torches and pitchforks, led, of course, by Otto.

Much quieter and more rational here.

Well, I'll see what things look like on mine when I get home from work this afternoon.

My NERW route is OK after the SP1. Ran over the whole route and everything is in order. Even looks crisper than before plus 5-6 FPS increase in areas that used to bog down a bit. I am locked at 30 FPS and sitting at 29 most of the time. What used to be a drop to 14 only drops to 20 now.

I used a lot of the default scenery items as well as 3rd party stuff.

As well, it's working well for me as well.

All my buildings still work in the game like they should, and even look better now.

As well, today I've been able to export some brand new fresh buildings into the sim without a problem, so that part is still working correctly.

Of course, the buildings are for the freeware/donationware route I'm working on, so they are being made special for the route.

SP1 seems ok here so far.

I did need to do a file check for missing files before I had a working SD40 tooter, I think around 150 files were missing.

Scenery and frame rates, I agree with other comments I've see about improvements.

Operational things (I think) I've noticed so far (Cajon Route and SD40 locos tried only).
- scenarios start up much faster
- dynamics may be usable now; 100% does not lock the wheels
- train braking appears improved - a small application does apply some braking although I feel we do still have rapid trainline recharging

Does anyone know what the size of the SP1 was? !**conf**!

I originally received a 343.6KB DL and then a 4.4MB DL on my "playing" install. !*don-know!*

I then switched to my "basic" clean install and verified the files and received a 117.2 MB DL. !*don-know!*

Glad your route isn't broken! I managed to get everything back as well and all looks good except my couplers went back to default.
