Problem is RW field diverts kill power; when the amps go down on a diesel electric the voltage goes up to compensate it, so the power ( V*A ) stays roughly constant.

Y'all are not answering John's question, how to operate the dynamics! I don't use the Fisher Price HUD, and can't remember the key controls, haven't driven this engine in quite a while. And, I generally don't use dynamics anyways, I get
"derailed due to consist tilt" because the physics are so bad. Don't ask me to edit files, I can't do it, I'm a klutz. Besides, I shouldn't have to edit files. (OK mini rant over) Isn't there a manual for this engine, John?

It looks like to me that you can't use the mouse for dynamic brake use. If you know which signs on the keyboard that are used for dynamic brake, and watch while in cab, you'll see that the same handle is used for throttle and dynamic brake. And both parameters are using the same range of motion. It doesn't work with the mouse. As you know probably already know, if you grab the handle with the mouse, it will only advance throttle. You may have to be content with using the keyboard to activate dynamic brake when cab driving.

OK, I can live with that one.

Chris - No, it isn't mentioned anywhere in the PDF file.

Thanks for your help, guys! !!*ok*!!

Why not ask Doc at DTM?

Dynamic brakes hotkey are (in general for any loco): "." (dot) increase; "," (comma) reduce. I didn't used DD40X DB yet, I have some scenarios for it but in plain track. Usually (locos in general) is problematic to use more than 12% of DB, unless you are in a very steep grade, like Cajon Track 2, 3.2%, in which I could use no more than 25% (with SD70 and ES44AC).

Ps.: Chacal posted at same time of me, I'm not from DTM, though I've enhanced DD40X (freeware here on RWA Library) with the license of Lord Mannu.

Yes you have to use the keyboard to engage dynamic brakes but they are very weak even at full power, you'll notice the selector lever puts it into B in the throttle readout. It does have the dynamic brake icon to click on with the other brake icons but it doesn't work either
