I have been critical of RS in the past, but I have to admire their diligence to correct issues. Thank you guys for standing by your products.

Posted on UKTS about this but will say it here as I'm an equal opportunity mouth runner .. If I am man enough to go between two forums venting about this, then I'm man enough to go between two forums and give credit when it is due also. *!!wink!!* I'm impressed.. I said myself on here "they will never fix this".. So, color me surprised to see not only are they rectifying it, but doing it at a speed I don't think anyone expected them to do it. Also, yes bugs on initial release is the norm, any will admit that more then just a few problems were in this initial release. If that was case RSC wouldn't be making it their priority to release all these patches for it so quickly and we'd all be too busy driving and taking screenshots to care about the little bugs most routes have. :)

Anywho, great stuff. !!*ok*!!

I'm glad to see these improvements. Scenery matters. I highly value immersion in a sim. But it's the track problems I need to see fixed. I'm very glad to hear they will be working on those as well, and fully understand that will take more time, as it's a much bigger job.

A curious thing... they don't mention the dash numbering, nor the white stripe on the SD40T-2

Am I just not seeing it in the list?

RSC's response is good damage control and it will bring them more respect and fidelity from users.
However, they should have seen this coming and prevented it.

Maybe I'm splitting hairs here, but TS2012 was software, Donner Pass is not.
With new software, there is a high probability of bugs in new slipping through the QA process because they are hard to reproduce.

I don't think floating trees fit this description, they are easily spotted. What we have here is a faulty QA process. I doesn't matter if the work was done internally or outsourced to India, the QA process is supposed to reduce bugs in the final product to an acceptable, pre-determined level before it is released, even if this means delaying release. RSC needs a better, mandatory QA process.

When you choose to outsource, you know that the first products will be defective and you're supposed to allow for that in planning for costs and delivery dates. Outsourcing lowers costs in the long term only.

I have to finally intervene here on this subject. I'm with pretty high confidence in saying when Paul Jackson said 7 people in India were working on this he was using humor to emphasize just how many people were involved at RSC with the project.. Not that there was literally 7 people in India working on it.. I can't believe that quip has snowballed into what it did. !*roll-laugh*!

I actually think it was a literal comment. Lots of places farm out production to small external teams, especially when the creation tools are already made and easily useable by someone outside the original team.

It's really insane to think RSC handed Railworks to a bunch of guys in India with a manual and a map and said "140 miles, in a few months and I just want to tell you both, good luck, we're all counting on you.". !*roll-laugh*! Seriously..

uh... yes, this does happen in the software world.

None taken, but lets look at it this way. If RSC listened to their community prior to the release they would not have have such a simple problem in their over flowing list of issues right now.
