It was just discovered that the signals and gates for the road crossings were not included in the 4.5 package. You should be seeing a gate at Alleghany and 3 in Alderson but not all of the files were included. The resolution to this is easy though, just go to the SMM_Digital website and download the Level Crossings Route Developers Pack at http://www.smmdigital.net/ccount/click.php?id=5 and install it according to the instructions included in the pack (simply install the .rwp file with Railworks Package Manager).

New scenarios available

Unread postby Toripony » Thu Sep 08, 2011 11:02 am

Courtesy of Jim Friedland, two new scenarios for the Alleghany are available at the COA Web site or at TS.com:

Get RW Scenario Set--Passenger East - C&O Alleghany

Two essentially identical scenarios for the C&O Alleghany Division Route version 4.5. Be warned that earlier and later versions of this route may not work. Both scenarios require additional non-default rolling stock. See the"EquipList.txt" file for required items and sources. Drive a passenger train through the Division with heavy AI traffic. Copyleft 2011 by James Friedland - users are free to repost and/or modify as long as the result is free of charge and original credits are given.

Get RW Scenario--Up The Alleghanies v4.5

Two essentially identical scenarios (Dash 9 and ES44AC) for the C&O Alleghany Division Route version beta 4.5 Be warned that earlier and later versions of this route may not work. Drive a mile long (100 car) train from Ronceverte to Alleghany, in driving rain. Use care on the throttle and brakes to avoid wheel slip and stay on time to avoid being held at a stop signal. Moderate Difficulty - 50 minutes. Please consult the included "ReadMe.txt" and "EquipList.txt" files for required information, Both the Dash 9 and ES44AC scenarios requires additional non-default rolling stock. See the "EquipList.txt" file for required items and sources. Copyleft 2011 scenario only by James Friedland. Users may revise and repost as long as the product is free and credit is given.

More scenarios are in the works!

I notice that the Dash 9 is much 'slipperier' than the other engine....nice runs!! They're like potato chips, couldn't do just one, had to do both of them! !!*ok*!!

Yea, it was! Thanks for sharing.

On my COA route, if you go east beyond the "Work ahead" signs towards Covington, there is one spot a few miles down the mountain that is scened with trees. That is Moss Run.

That was really surprising seeing that "intermodel type" (???) train on the Alleghany; possibly a first.

That videographer must have had a fun drive from Tuckahoe to Moss Run to stay ahead of that coal drag. There are only winding backroads (some single-lane) between those points! lol

Q136 (the intermodal in the video + one other) is a detour due to tunnel work on it's normal route (B&O). Supposed to be temporary, guess CSX made that it's new route..

New content available at coarw.com:
GP9 Diesel C&O 12 pack for Railworks by Ronald

Created to complement the C&O Alleghany route, this freeware locomotive repaint package REQUIRES prior purchase and installation of the GP9 Addon, a RailSimulator.Com payware addon for Railworks available from the Steam Railworks DLC store.

8 Geeps, 140 cars!
Set about the year 1970, try your hand at a typical C&O/Chessie System coal drag of the era running 6 GP9's on the front of 140 hoppers with two pushers, totalling around 14,000 tons of train. Add snow and ice to the tracks and controlling your train becomes a real challenge.

C&O GP9 Free Roam
A free roam scenario set in Ronceverte with a few loads and empties sitting around to create your own work orders using C&O GP9's painted in various blue/gold schemes.

I've got v4.5 installed (per directions) and have a few winter texture issues. I've tried the normal stuff; verifying cache and re-installing the route, and they persist.

Are we missing a few winter textures? The objects in question seem to be non-default. Not sure how to fix it, short of deleting the objects altogether.

I was able to figure out the shed missing texture. It really was missing a winter texture. Find it here:

\railworks\Assets\Pere\RenfeIII\Scenery\Buildings\casas_rurales\textures

Copy, paste, and rename this file:
edrur009.TgPcDx

to this:
edrur009_WI.TgPcDx

Now it has a texture on the face of the building in the winter time.

I have not been able to figure out the stone walls, so I just removed them from the route for now. I dont know how to figure out where they're located.

I also found another missing texture near White Sulphur. Maybe a guard rail?

Yes, I, too, have just discovered some missing Winter textures. Mike (RWTools) and I are working on finding and capturing them and I hope to post a patch for v4.5 in the next week or so. Thanks for your pics; you've found a couple a didn't know about.
