Everything I was expecting and more! !*YAAA*! AMAZING lifelike look in the screenshots! And, I spent yesterday wishing for it.... SUPERELEVATION! Can't wait to add that element of realism to the Alleghany! The new tools and landscaping features sound wonderful. Improved menus (Asset Browser!) were desperately needed. And you can't beat a genuine version upgrade for free!

One thing I'm not clear on... is there a new game engine underneath this new version? (".... based on the new TSX game engine") What does that mean to users and developers? Can I expect better performance on my present hardware or maybe worse? Or the same?? If I'm shopping for new hardware, what is the recommendation now? Does this still use DirectX? What version?

Tori
P.S. Hope we can see some screenies of the new editing tools soon.

Why does September have to be so far away. I know, it's August's fault! :D

Well I thought it was somewhat funny. *!!wink!!*

Good things come to those that are patient. I have had faith is RSC.com since I first got Railworks 1. 13 months building a route and it is almost done, maybe even before the new upgrade comes. Thank you RSC, the best keeps getting better.

Any plans to work with Raildriver to make sure TS2012 is compatible?

Sadly most games (and programs) do.

You'll see improvements in graphics all around. But it won't look as great as on a tri or quad core.

EDIT: Fixing my horid spelling.

about the screenshots, there are some that i don't reconize the route they are taken in.....obviously the one with the trees, but the ones with the diner in them? is that part of a current route, just something for screenshots to show it off, or is it a new route?

Hi Paul,

Using the F5 view in RW2 with a long train, the brake pipe seems to recharge in a matter of seconds, which is obviously not realistic. Can you give us an idea how long it takes to recharge with the new physics model?

Also, do brake applications and releases happen sequentially along the length of the train? When the brake pipe pressure is reduced, is there a delay before the brakes start applying on the last car? If there is distibuted power at the end of the train, will the brakes apply and release starting from both ends of the train where the locos are first, and move towards the middle of the train last?

Lastly, the view of the train and the upcoming track in the "F4" view is currently not very useful for long trains since the train takes up the whole view, leaving no room on the right side for upcoming speed changes/signals etc. Has this view been altered at all to allow for longer trains? Any chance some kind of colour coding might be added to the cars in this view to show brake application/release states, in train forces, etc?

Thanks again for the effort and the update news, and thanks especially for being available to answer community questions, it is much appreciated!

Is it just me or is there not a whole lot to the new Railsimulator 2012 site?
This is all I see, and the News link doesn't work.

TS2012.jpg

The FAQ link is just a pdf file and the Press link is just an email link. Then there's the Facebook link, which I won't bother with.

There's a bunch of screenshots where "hello" is. Requires Flash. Maybe have to update?
