DH (Distant Signal) is actually a good fella to watch. You'll learn alot of things from him. Never miss an upload

Huh? You mean the signal colors can not be trusted and in this case might be be incorrect ?

How do I check those shadow colors you mention? By zooming in even closer using the free canera ?

Not clear in my mind. I have seen that in other routes and it has been fixed by authors.

The 3 yellows mean what I did tell you above (all 3 blocks vacated with following blocks occupied, so it´s an approach ready to stop, in the three tracks), but it´s a crazy idea, as you can´t have the switch in front of you set to both blocks (direct and diverging). It means some has to be red.

I believe they are the best YouTube about RR signals and still mostly valid for most of the class I RR.

Thanks for all the feedback guys.

I took some more shots, click the thumbnails to zoom in. I think it is indeed yellow over - maybe yellow but maybe green over - yellow. But for gameplay this is of course complete nonsense. Should be not necessary to zoom in like this to be able to take a guess on the colors. I was hoping to have a signal sheet ready and then check the signals as I approach them. Too bad that seems kind of unreliable in this situation.

Was impossible to upload the screenshots, so I used an off site option instead. Sorry.

jalsina wrote:The problem is that every RR has their own rules for signals. If the route designers have placed attention to signals (usually they don't), you have to consider that Kansas is a sort of junction for several Class I RR, but tracks are owned and owner uses their own signals. . . . .

Yep, makes it even a bigger challenge that there are so many different systems for different rail roads.

I had no idea many route builder did not pay enough attention to this. This an important , and interesting part, of driving a train. And making it so unreliable / confusing does not stimulate people to get into the subject either.

Do some research for RR signals in Google. .....

Yes did that. Seems the best available sheets are the ones from Joseph Hoevet (JJH/Jovet). Below the one he has for UPRR (extracted from his PDF).

Note it also explains DOLL ARMS and BRACKETTED/ADJACENT SIGNALS

In case you know any better sheets, in this case for UPRR, that can be used whiel running a TSC train then please do let me know.

I just took a quick look at the Granger route and decided that it just has really crappy signals. When looking at them from the wrong angle it really is hard to tell the difference between the yellow and the green. I took a couple of pics from other places and there is no problem telling the difference between yellow and green.

Here's a couple from B&A route. No problem telling the difference between green and yellow here.

I think this is a good thread about signals.
Marias Pass is very good with signals. It is also one of my favorites.
BTW, that B&A route looks great. Is that a DTG or a freeware route?

Thank you, sir... !*salute*!
It looks like this includes the PA base for your recent repaints.

Me busy on Maria Pass. Reading signals and using the (see above) BNSF rules.

When I came across something like this . . . .

Image

Image

. . is the game aware of the 40 MPH or do they expect me to keep max speed ?

I tried it while speeding and there was no Blinking Speeding Warning.

TS can only enforce track speed, not signal speed. On certain routes that use safety systems like ACSES/ATC (LIRR, Washington-Baltimore, etc.) there are safety systems that will yell at you for exceeding signal speed, but you will not actually be penalized by the game.

It´s just a simulation, not a game. I choose to behave like a real engineer, following the rules of the company which own the tracks you are riding.
The game does not have a sort of obligation (like career scenarios).
That yellow light at your right means your block is vacated, but the next block signal will be a red one. So you better lower your speed and be prepared to set the brakes when required.
Understand that if you have a moving train ahead, it may empty the block where it is now and by the time you get to the next signal, it may have changed from red to yellow.
