My **!!2cents!!**

DRG from Wallsenberg over La Veta Pass (great grades in either direction) and then interchange with the DRGW in Alamosa, so dual gauge yards and facilities etc.

Living in a dream world I know...

I am currently working on the NS Lehigh Line as part of my project route. (search Central Jersey Freight Lines in the forum) and someone else is doing the Reading Line. So hopefully you will get both soon . :D

I know that this is a dormant post. Sorry, I'm a late-comer to the forum. A few of you were in the neighborhood of my favorite, but no one quite got there. Well, no one except Minerman 146,that is. How about the pre-merger fallen flag that started the era, the New York, Ontario, and Western? The roster was mostly steam, a few diesels ( some of which "flew"), and its very own streamliner. The main traffic carried were milk reefers, mail, anthracite coal, and summer vacation traffic. I'll give you the fact that the road truly started nowhere, went nowhere, and missed every major town and city in between, but it has a certain amount of charm. And Camelbacks.

I gotta say the New York, Ontario and Western. Its almost a legend amongst railfans of the North East. It would need to start off with 30 miles from Cornwall Landing on the Hudson River to Middletown, NY. The problem with the line, from a TS stand point, is that to get some operations in, you have to go and build Maybrook, NY for interchange, then go from Middletown West to Wurtsboro, NY. At Wurtsboro, it becomes decision time, because you can go 3 different direction on your compass: South to Port Jervis (20 Miles), North to Kingston, NY (20 miles) or to points West ( Cadosia,NY), just to get to Scranton. Its probably 30 or 40 miles there. So to make it interesting and functional because this is a bridge line with few customers it would need to be 90 plus miles of scenery. !*hp*!

Joseph - ya need to start learning to route build man!

If this was serious - elements if not the whole thing would need to be commercial and subcontract out the rolling stock, locos and iconic structures that dot the route. Before that happened we would have to slug it out as to what year we are doing. The O&W dieseled up in 1948 - and their steam equipment were antiques at that time. But, what the strength is here with the route is absolutely gorgeous scenery.

I have been thinking about this for years.

I like you Jonnyray.
Oh and here is Maybrook, New York. Blow away this Yellow Freight Terminal, lay some track and knock a few trees down and there ya go.
