Don't put to much blame onto DTG (for once) in this matter. It's not just a matter of DTG and BNSF negotiating with each other. BNSF has wiped out sales for everyone - from computer games to T-shirts and coffee mugs. If it's going across the border, BNSF ain't hip to it. When I asked why, there was no answer other than "we don't allow sales of our trademarks outside of the U.S., is that clear"? Yes m'am, I sayz. You can't really argue with them when the license is only a buck.

I just don't understand the no to Canada part of all this. Have they forgotten about all the Canadian operations they have? Shame they are doing this but at least this will have DTG doing other railroads for a while.

...unfortunately. In my opinion, the BNSF lines are the most beautiful.

Mavadelo, I would suggest sharing this on the UKTS an other international forums as well !!*ok*!!

submitted at ukts (needs aproval), rail-sim.de, oldtimerklubben.dk and railsim.es as well as requested justtrains and trains and drivers sites to support :)

Thanks all for signing, hope many will follow :D

Don't think UKTS will post it as they can be a bit funny about talking about DTG. Soon as you start discussing about DTG the thread gets locked.

not sure how to see this, I hope you mean us by smart folks :)

A huge thank you so far, the petition has breached 100 signers and this is made possible because of the support from our US friends. As the discussions go on on the steam forums about this we think we cracked the reason for this based upon replies members got when writing BNSF. What it basically comes down to is that BNSF actually can't forbid DTG use outside the USA since they have not regsitered their brand outside the USA. However they can tell DTG that if DTG would sell outside the USA, they revoke the rights for sale within the USA, a simple form of blackmail I would say. However this also means the petition has a chance of succeeding if enough people participate so keep sharing this with your friends, US and non US alike and maybe as a community we can bring about change

as for UKTS: the topic someone opened about BNSF not available anymore got indeed locked however the post someone made containing the link to the petition has not been removed. However the petition topic I made didn't pass approval from the mods and in fact I have been placed "under moderation" when it comes to posting there. I am not in the game of bashing a site and given the history and founders of ukts I am not even surprised about it. So please do not look "cross eyed" towards UKTS as they actually allowed more than usual with allowing that post with the link

Again, many thanks to all of you who signed so far, it is hugely appreciated

Lemme see if I can shed a little light on the UKTS situation.

Matt Peddlesden = Product Development at DTG. Former Gatekeeper for third-party add-ons, he's the guy working to bring you the Unreal 4 version.

Peter Peddlesden = Heavily involved, if not the man in charge, at UKTS.

There you have it folks, nepotism at work!

If you are a new member at UKTS your first few posts are moderated. I posted the email you got from BNSF on there forums, wouldn't be surprised if it gets locked or removed.

While running a switching scenario a few days ago, I noticed a logo on a factory building that was close enough for government work but not real enough to offend the actual company's image problems, which made me wonder what would happen if all the great folks who make or repaint rolling stock for TS, including RSC itself, would simply invent and use agreed-upon near-logos. In fractured Italian, these might be called "slogos" (in many cases, placing an "s" at the start of a word reverses its meaning).

Perhaps even the threat of abandoning real-world logos in favor of simulated ones would lead railroads to feed their corporate lawyers tranquilizers?

Hmmm,

If I wanted to secure quiet, inoffensive, private enjoyment of something, I'm not sure I'd use the town band to advertise the fact.

So I'll not be signing a petition which can only increase animosity.

I will be keeping my copy of RW_Tools up to date, and I will be quietly cruising around the ever more populous circuit of always friendly and increasingly competent repaint providers.

Kind regards to all, including BNSF's much-maligned legal team...

This is one of those things that Warren Buffett himself probably wouldn't approve of, if he actually knew about it. Somehow I don't think the big boss knows about something this petty and strange.

Is the license really only $1 ?
It seems to me that U.P. and others are missing out a way to support their steam programs.
Unless they mean $1 a sale?
