An we're all hoping Dovetail will implement event-driven AI trains, which would solve a lot of problems.

Yeah...it's a given that scenarios should work if paid for. AI train crashes can be quite random and are most frustrating when they happen in the last half of a 2+ hour scenario.

I'm an achievement nut and need all the boxes checked. I was shocked to hear on the forums that the majority (at least of those that responded) don't care about completing scenarios and don't bother. They just wanna run trains. I thought people would enjoy the challenge. I seem to be in the minority. !*don-know!*

Nah, I'm almost like you, I go for the green checkmarks.
I won't even install a route if it doesn't come with standard scenarios.
No freeroam for me.
It's not the achievement I'm looking for, but I need something to do.
Like an engineer who comes to work in the morning, they don't just tell him to grab a train and drive around.

I'm also one that doesn't like free roams. Like y'all say, I want a job to do. One big reason I love Rich Garber's routes, he packs a bunch of scenarios in his work. Especially Ohio Steel 2. I'll do the occasional custom quick drive, tho.

I like the US based scenarios published in the community workshop by Elphaba - they are always interesting and intriguing. Good AI and lots to do!

Like many I do not like career scenarios which are now creeping into the workshop ones- I've just "completed" one for WCML over Shap by the latter's author - got one cross for being late and -246 for speeding (unmarked change) and was told to do it over again - that's not simulation - that's punishment!! *!twisted!*

Does anyone know what you have to change (probably in the scenarioproperties.xml) to allow you to clone that scenario in TS 2014 so that timings and inane comments can be erased. I have used RW_Tools but when the route/assets is in the ".ap file" structure you can't edit the scenarios without extracting the .ap file and space is tight on my SSD. I have changed "Career" to "Standard" in the xml file but you still can't clone it in TS2014 and the scenario still appears in the Careers list. Any ideas?

You can extract only the scenario you want (using a tool such as 7zip) which takes up a minimal amount of space.
This will become the new original scenario.
Then you clone this using RW-Tools.

Also, I'm pretty sure there is an option in TS 2014 for disabling the advanced criteria in career scenarios.

Personally I don't mind career scenarios, they helped me realize I suck at driving trains :)
I appreciate the feedback about timeliness, etc.
I see it as a more detailed checkmark.
I don't mind doing the scenario again, but I save often (when it is going well) so I don't have to do the entire scenario again.

I don't care at all about the career itself, I've never checked my overall score or achievements.
IMHO, persistent career data ruined on-line games (such as the Battlefield series starting with BF2), but kids and gaming companies love them.

I have done that but how do you see the scenario in RW_Tools as the route is still in .ap file format and doesn't show up in the route/scenario list. So how can you clone or edit the unzipped scenario RW_Tools? I must be missing something?? I have about 20 scenarios in one route folder but can't access them in RW_Tools as it is an ".ap" route.

I really wanted to do it in TS 2014, via the xml file if possible, as I can remove timings and comments that way.
In TS2014 if you can clone a career scenario then you can also edit it but many can't be cloned due to some "switch" in the scenario.
I'm a terrible driver too that's why I keep getting "X" in most CS.

Many thanks for your reply.

You need to extract the scenario folder under the same folder hierarchy as in the ap file, which means creating the route folder, then the "scenarios" folder, then you extract your scenario folder inside that.
A lazy way to do it is to let RW-Tools extract the whole route from the ap file, then delete the parts you don't need, so you can regain the disk space.
