Support got back to me. They asked me to run Dash to Linwood scenario and a document showing me how to send them my system information. They said it is either a problem with the D9 that they are investigating or a DRM issue that cache verify should fix. Cache verify does not help so the Investigastors have the ball. WIll try the Dash to Liwood scenario tongiht after work and send them my system info.

Someone by the name of Cross City Trains on a Facebook wall post I started on RSC's page said this:

"The update was planned for tonight, so I'm guessing Steam has part rolled out the update, some people got the full update, others only got part. If that is the case (it happened with the Service Pack 1) then you should be able to play in 12 hours."

I have no idea is this has any truth to it but if it does then this is even more annoying considering the problems experienced by a lot of people with SP1.

I think RSC need competition in the trainsim market because at the moment they think they can do as they please and if that means breaking DLC that people paid and making them wait ages for afix then so be it. They also want the gamers to pick up this game but do they really think gamers will put up with what we simmers do with this game. I feel for all those that have a working Dash9 and are spending hours fixing their repaints as they could soon find out they did all that work for nothing ig RSC send out another Dash9 update to try and sort out this mess.

Run a scenario that comes with pack should be the first obvious thing to do (especially when a problem is found), nothing new at all. The same about clearing cache. Well, at least they replyed...

With the update came also 4 updated scenarios, same folders' names but with different internal (localisation) names: previous versions started with [DASH9], and current versions no [DASH9].

I found double and different (therefore undue) names of engines within the scenario.bin files: Dash9... (it shows in Scenario Editor)... and GE... (it shows in Drive by Route or Drive by Train Menus.

If you have a deffective installation you might be sure you will run the new one, the Dash to Linwood is the new name of scenario.

RS Support replied personally to my email and we have gone through several tests this afternoon. It seems they are making every effort to get a solution for the problem. You've gotta admire that.

This is exactly what I got this morning. Why would they first send me a boilerplateemail with how to verify the cache, and then send me a follow up telling me to do the steps in the attached word doc... which was the same thing as the boilerplate.

Oh HO!

They responded! They gave me a tool to test my Dash9Pack01 files. I will post more after I try this out.

OK, so the utility they sent produces a log file of all the files in a give folder and its subfolders.

Here is an example:

Code: Select all
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\railworks\Assets\RSC\Dash9Pack01\Blueprints.pak,680a0a13dbe84aa4f2b0f8a141355cec
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\railworks\Assets\RSC\Dash9Pack01\_.sbn,dea37f35e8e8856e36e5f2ae3fca7169
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\railworks\Assets\RSC\Dash9Pack01\_.sbn.MD5,de2f0e0fc78e653b7708f6de9cab3c8b
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\railworks\Assets\RSC\Dash9Pack01\Audio\Markers\SoundEmitter.GeoPcDx,45987e18314c04ce4492f22e79e92be8
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\railworks\Assets\RSC\Dash9Pack01\Audio\Markers\Textures\Gizmo_RGBY.TgPcDx,16359d4593d8619da6cb822aed7e88a3
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\railworks\Assets\RSC\Dash9Pack01\Audio\RailVehicles\Bogies\BG_Modern.proxybin,c66481c3af10c9dbaedad56dd1420d25
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\railworks\Assets\RSC\Dash9Pack01\Audio\RailVehicles\Bogies\BG_Modern.proxyxml,f697970feed8f0cf4ae96a95b01ecc7b
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\railworks\Assets\RSC\Dash9Pack01\Audio\RailVehicles\Bogies\BUF_Impact01.dav,05201a0915f7d013f57320b49e74ada7

So there is not much for me to tell from it. The only use I can see is that they now diff between what I have and what they have (working) something will stand out...

oh my... they must like my English. I just received another request... be right back.

Just like MSTS was. And we did. We can fix this one too, if we try and work together.

I'm wondering about this - my update works perfectly, therefore the files I received must have been correct. To me, that points away from this being RSC's fault. If the files they released to Steam were incorrect/corrupted then none of us would have working Dash 9s

Frustrating for those of us who don't have a working copy, for sure.

This time they asked me for a verbose log from LogMate. Its getting pretty late for them so I may not hear back until tomorrow.

@Bob - I would like to think we could fix this. The only problem is that MSTS didn't have Steam and constant updates to erase the fixes once they were applied. Like wishing for moondew on a meteorite, RW needs to assign someone to investigate user fixes and decide whether to recommend they be incorporated into the overall game.
