New route in November - Donner Pass!

Discuss almost anything about RailWorks.

Your right Dan and we try and respect all views.

Its complicated because different people want different things, length of route, close in detail, framerate, location, price etc etc. If we tried to get everything right I fear we would release something that cost $250. and would only run on a super computer !**conf**!

Our hope is that we can listen to all, find a sensible middle course and give as many people as much enjoyment as we can.

Hope that makes sense.

Its great to have you here Paul, and all the other people from RW HQ . Your HSC route confirmed that you have master route builders on the team. I know Donner Pass will be just as good !

..... just make sure you throw in some deep snow cuts in the winter season, please old buddy old friend..... *!embar*!

As always, keep up the good work !!*ok*!!

Well, I'm certainly looking forward to it. The HSC is an amazing route! Just ran another scenario on it last night, and couldn't stop grinning! If the Donner route will run at least as well as HSC (which is a bit demanding, but manageable), and have a similar immersion factor, then it will be a fantastic route.

I think RWA is the best place for any producer, including RSC, to get valuable input from experts, at least for north-american content.
Most of the criticism they get here is frank but constructive, which is the best kind of criticism for improving a product.

HI MontanaRails, I agree. Those shots look great and I can't wait for the route. Another great add-on. The only question I had was the actual appearance of the track. In some shots it looked like the ties were too long. Other than that the route looks great.

Looks like they fixed that. But it also looks like they are using 2d ties instead of the 3d ones from before.

Routes coming along nicely tho..

Yeah, it does look like they're using different track. Even though its not as blatantly 3d as before, my opinion is that the new track/ties looks much more realistic overall, not just because the tie length is resolved. Need a better look at it to tell for sure.

I dont think there's anything that could cause me NOT to buy this route now, short of an asteroid striking earth!

Are there any indications of *when* in November this is targeted to be released?

Late November would indicate the last Thursday, so I'm guessing we'll have Donner for Thanksgiving.

Interesting note: the radiator screen is still displaced down by the front pilot. So they apparently haven't fixed this bug yet.

Is the snow on the walkways a part of the loco model, or is it dynamically building up as the scenario progresses?

They added Donner to the loading screen for the routes. One sentence caught my eye:

Goes something like this:

"At 4 hours 26 mins, 'Donner Pass' is the longest scenario ever created for Railworks."
