Fish don't fry in the kitchen. Beans don't burn on the grill

Unread postby styckx » Wed Dec 19, 2012 9:57 am

So... I'm here.. Downloading this 45GB pile of code called TS 2013 and looking at the ncf files I have. I apparently didn't burn my bridges as well as I thought I did.. Or maybe I reserved myself more than I gave myself credit for. Or maybe RSC forgot. !*roll-laugh*!

So any who.. It's been 8 months since I gave away my ball and went home. Lots of random rants, lots of changes in my life.. Well not really.. I did quit smoking though! 4 months and counting. I kinda missed the train thing ya know.. Once it's in your blood you sorta can't get rid of it.. Just going to keep it Vanilla w/ 3rd party payware I trust so I can just take some clag monsters or for a spin or shunt a bit and relieve some stress. My pledge to myself - Just enjoy the stupid thing and stop trying to move mountains with ignorance. Anyway. So yeah.. To any bridges I might have scorched.. I apologize.. I'm an ignorant, hypocritical butt at times and well. That will probably never change but either will be being able to eventually admit it either..

So what I need to know folks.. Because... The biggest itch I have and something I miss doing the most.. Photoshop. Has anything changed with the format of the rollingstock as far as repainting goes? I just grabbed the textures I wanted via RsBinTool, worked up the textures in PS, just saved my work in ace files and export them out through the blueprint editor. I do know RSBinTool is invalid now as RSC changed up the texture format. I need RWTools and Mike is having server issues.. I can't find it on UKTS or here.. Can someone link me to a recent full install of it please?

UKTS full install of RW Tools: http://members.uktrainsim.com/filelib-i ... leid=21454

The very latest skins from RSC have a new file header that got us scratching our heads for a week or two, but if I recall correctly I think Mike has already fitted RW Tools with a new gizmo to read it.

Welcome back.

Works for me.. As long as I can read and export the TgPcDx I'll let Photoshop and the Blueprint editor do the rest..

Thanks, and it's the darned Brits fault.. If it wasn't for this video I would never have got the bug again: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-20759707

Bill besides the new compressed format, you will find a lot of the new textures are 2048 x 2048.

That's terrific.. Does the blueprint editor still block anything above that? I remember up-scaling textures to 4096 and the blueprint editor told me to hit the pike when trying to export.

No apology unnecessary. :) It's all good yo!

Don't know about the blueprint editor, actually I never used it *!embar*! Never had to for a repaint.

We'll find out soon enough. I always found it 100x easier to clone an asset to the source folder and work on it from there via built in tools and photoshop and ace files.. I have kept in practice, learned some new things repainting aircraft for Prepar3D.. Can't wait to dig into things again.

I copy a folder and rename it and start editting the bin files for correct paths. Convert to DDS with RW Tools and beam it into photoshop, edit then save and convert back. No blueprint editor required.

No control of compression that way.. I despise compressed textures, always have, always will..
