After a discussion with PapaXpress, apprently my original post offended somebody. So I took out the stuff that may have offended somebody and reposting it....SO FOR THE PUBLIC RECORD... MY vote is for the Surfliner route for the US routes. That's partly out of bias cuz I live in Santa Barbara county on the coastal route. The other reason is because it''s along a very pretty coastline on the Pacific Ocean with the channel Islands just off the coast and a few oil platforms in the channel.
My rankings beyond that.....
#2 Mullan Pass ---- Cuz it's a beautiful steep mountain route. That's my "slow and steady freight up a grade" bias in me.
#3 Colton Crossing ---- Cuz it's in California and a decent spot. Not sure why they chose it though. It's basically a crossing of the UP and BNSF railroads with metrolink service. But it's a spot, not a big subdivision area or route. Curious to what they would do with it.
Those not familiar with it, here's the wiki page:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colton_Crossing#4 Chicago CTA "L" --- Just cuz the remaining route sounds small and this is likely larger. Not too much into commuter train stuff.
#5 Black Thunder Mine ---- Cuz I need to see the details and the size of this route. If it "pans" out (pun intended)

, this will switch places with Chicago.
As for the UK and European routes? Since I care little about routes outside the US, this is kinda tough. But if I had to pick.....
Manchester to Liverpool --- Why? Cuz it's a route that's NOT in the general area of London and it's more north. Need to change things up. I'd LOVE if they did the route that goes over the Forth Bridge cuz It's kind of a cool and long railroad bridge. There is a youtube video cab ride going over it.
For those clueless about this bridge.....
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forth_BridgeAs for the last pick? Either LGV route is fine or any Japanese route since we don't have routes from France or Japan currently. Germany has already gotten some love.
