RSC Paid DLC not working in TS2013.

Unread postby roinuj » Fri Sep 21, 2012 9:25 am

I have read in a few posts here and on other forums of problems with RSC DLC not working in TS2013. I thought maybe a focused thread for people to list their DLC problems that doesn't work after the upgrade may be helpful to the discussion.

I know its only been a few hours since its release but I'm noticing a number of my paid DLC from RSC will not work in TS2013. On RSC's website, a few days prior to the TS2013's release, they had posted in the article titled Train Simulator 2013 - what happens on the 20th September? (LINK) the following statement:

Can I use the DLC I purchased for TS2012 with TS2013?

Yes, your old RailSimulator.com DLC will be compatible with TS2013. Remember, with Steam you can always verify your local files and make sure that you have all your DLC installed (https://support.steampowered.com/kb_art ... -QEUH-3335)

So far the following DLC that was usable in TS2012 with no problem will no longer work in my updated TS2013, even after a verifying the files. Its also worth noting none of these DLC have pages on Steam at present.

CN SD40-2W WideNose
SW1500
GP9
SD40-2 High Nose

I wrote RSC tech support and they responded with the following:

We are in the process of rebuilding all our steam pages to update them to the new TS2013 standard.

Regards

RailSimulator.com Support

Not sure what is involved in rebuilding the steam pages to TS2013 standards (whether its only the pages or if the models actually have to be updated) but I find it extremely frustrating after they assured us our Paid RSC DLC will continue to work, and after the Dash-9 fiasco we had to go through only a month or so back, that some of us now have to go through this again with TS2013. Why didn't they have these pages/models/whatever updated prior to going live with the major update??

Its very unfortunate as it seems the update has made a lot of improvements to the game but its overshadowed for me by the fact some of my RSC DLC which I paid for in good faith will not work.

Anyone else having problems with the RSC DLC not working in TS2013?

I'm sure they will someday. It took 2 weeks to get the Dash 9 to work after the last upgrade. I'm sorry but there is no excuse for this to have happened again.

I tried the SW1500 last night and it worked for me. When I get a chance I will try the others.

I'm not having problems that I have noticed with my DLC, but non railworks routes will not load. I am getting an "unknown version of serial binary file" Line:113 error. Still waiting for Railworks Support to figure this out.

My high nose and wide nose sd40s both have a number of files missing from their folders. My BN sd40 is fine so at least some of my content moved over.
I've tried verifying the cache but no luck.
I'll sit it out for a couple of days and see if an update appears if not I'll drop them a email.

I am having this same problem but only with some routes. For instance I got Gary's Cimarron & Pacific to run just fine and also the GN Butte works OK. I haven't tried every one but I can't get the NERW to load or Tennessee Pass either. I am fairly confused at this time and usually I can muddle my way through these things. I just don't know whether to uninstall one of these and try a re-install or what. Since some work I assume the game to be functioning properly (verified cache) and all that. RW Tools always shows a bunch of files missing from routes but it usually tells you in game if anything serious is missing. I can't even get to there.

Just copied the SD40-2 HN from my back up to the TS2013 folder Assets\RSC\SD40HnPack01 and the scenario loads, I have not tried to drive the HN tho.

Buzz why not just try installing the NERW over top of itself?

Thanks Bob.

Hi Bob

I'm having the same problems here and already tried that. Did not help. Watching the computer activity it seems that most of the route is loading before it stalls. Same with my own route which uses many of the same assets as PA Div. Checked with RW Tools and everything appears to be ok. Done all the basic RW stuff too - verified files and cleared blueprint cache. Thinking of trying a clean reinstall from Steam.

Gordon maybe it is something in the scenario you are trying to run. Try to make a simple scenario and see if that will load. I guess see if the scenario editor will load first. That will tell for sure whether it is the route or the scenario too. Just guessing here.

Yes, those four DLC's have missing files. This after verify cache. Why would RSC continue to do something so stupid after the D9 fiasco? I paid for these and needs to be fixed at once. Probably why some scenario will not load.

Yeah, I just tried to drive the SW1500, for which I paid full price, and got the :113 error. Not happy about that. I expect they'll fix it, and I hope soon. I'll write RSC and let them know.

Other than that, though, I have to say I'm really liking 2013. The new map features are much more user friendly, and it's hard not to be happy about cruising along locked at 30 FPS ALL the time! I ran a scenario on China Clay, one of my favorites, just to make sure that non-RSC route would work, and also Durango-Silverton. Raildriver is working again after the change to the script I made (RailworksProc2 changed to Railworks), so I'm happy about that! I really like the new HUD for driving the steam locos, much better info on it for that kind of driving, particularly the nice brake gauge. Really good stuff for the most part. A shame they break things too, but I expect they'll fix what they've broken. They darned well better fix what they sold me themselves so that it works!
