Speeders?

Unread postby hobo1960 » Thu Apr 26, 2018 10:44 am

So...

I've been wondering why there has not yet been a Fairmont (or other manufacturer) speeder yet for RW/TSxxx. I've been hoping that one might still make an appearance. Some years back there was a thread showing some very nice progress on a model but...alas....poof!

Not having the skills to build one, I was wondering if anyone knows how if one could make the speeder model in the Durango route driveable?

That's a good question.

There was a nice Speeder available for MSTS - could that perhaps be converted?

Isn't my picture above a piece of freeware in everyone's library?

I am curious to find out what it looks like, but the download page doesn't contain any images of it.

Nothing better than opening up the throttle in third gear on a Fairmont A6!

So... back to my initial question. Can someone confirm whether one can indeed take a static model and make it drive-able?

Way back when, I repainted the DSNG speeder into UP colours and tried to make it driveable ( create an engine blueprint, instead of the original freight .bin ).
As a freight object it could be towed, wheels turned and it could have a number assigned......and, of course it was narrow gauge to boot.
I could place it onto tracks in the scenario editor, add driver tab and number it but when saved and run in game it vanished. I could hear the engine sound but it was invisible so not usable.
At the time and much a newbie I was unsure what was needed to do such a conversion.
Time, more old age and new computers, the DSNG Route and all assets are long gone and lost.
To answer your question.....I am not sure on this model, maybe PM Rick to know for sure.

This right here is the best bet.

Although I would love to see Rick & Company make a freeware pack of signals and crossings I would totally love a enclosed speeder. It's something we lack greatly.

For narrow gauge or standard gauge?

I'd prefer Standard Guage honestly
