Quick question. Are you limiting this question to RSC/DTG routes?

New York New Haven. They modeled my living room window, 'nuff said.

I've increased the right half of the buildings to the correct height, I have to do the rest. We don't live in low rises in NYC, LOL!!!

The Bergen Line. An amazing route with lots of opportunities for passenger services and even more freight opportunities. Typical East Coast railroading and one of the few US routes available that have a high level of detail AND a high level of play-ability. Arguably the very best route I have installed. And its on the workshop so installation is quick & easy with no assets to chase, & its free besides.

You guys aren't answering the main question, why? And because it's free really isn't an answer.

That's why.

You can zoom in and see the little red arrow. *!twisted!*

And the pics are out my window. That's why I love this route.

For me, also has to be the New Haven, but the VNHRR version. Route oozes steam age atmosphere - hanging out to see the final run into New Haven. We don't have enough steam age routes.

For "freeware" the RWA Lakeside - again another vintage route and just waiting on Wayne to finish working his magic and release his re-worked version. Based on other work, that will be SPECIAL *!lol!*

(must be interesting seeing your home modelled in the sim, I think it would give me a strange feeling)

!*cheers*!

Weardale and Teesdale - Payware.

Because I made it and the rolling stock, (with loads of help from talented people of course:) )
But also because it is a Network that has a vast amount of reply value with shunting(switching)/passenger and freight services included.

I'd have to say the old Tennessee Pass route has to be my favorite.
I think it comes down to when I was a kid and being from Scotland whenever I would see trains from the US on tv it would always be dramatic mountains and deep canyons.
That combined with long heavy trains working hard on steep grades ticks all the boxes i need in a route.
Frontrunner in the file library now!

It's strange and cool. To get the detail and the feel of NYC is out of control! The only other thing that compares is minermans route. People nit pick mountain and desert routes, they have no CLUE what it looks like out of your window and DTG nailed the whole NYC thing. No small feat!!!

crap, they totally nailed Oak Point Yard in the Bronx, I used to work a few blocks from there in the 90's. The gun fire would stop when the crazy white boy pulled up on his Harley at the red light at 2AM. It would continue when I left! *!twisted!* No crap.

Just the thoughts I'd like to have when I an relaxing by immersing myself in the simulator. I think I prefer to think about the tall trees or the soaring mountains or the majesty of the barren desert when I am driving my train. I still think Marias Pass is about as good as it gets. Beautiful scenery mainline running and switching opportunities, it pretty much has it all.
