Does anybody know what happened to this add-on? I went to purchase today and it's not available anymore.

very. It shows in my wishlist with no price. When I click it, it takes me to some obscure page. Also, when I view all the DLC it's not there. I was hoping to get it for the Modern Horseshoe Curve route in the workshop. Plus, it's fun to run.

This is quite strange. It is such an essential prerequisite for so many user-created routes (including my own), I would hate to see it be removed permanently. Perhaps a copyright falling out with Pan Am? They're not well known for positive public relations

That is what I want to know too. Why has it pulled off the Steam Store? I was planning to buy it during the Christmas Sale to start doing some Pan Am operations but I can't as it has been pulled off the Steam Store.

Just found out from MattPeddlesden twitch stream why Portland Terminal has been pulled off the Steam Store. It has been pulled due to Licensing issues. Thanks Pan AM thanks a lot I was gonna buy Portland Terminal too. It will be back though soon.

This thread has set me to wondering: several routes now available on Steam Workshop are alterations of current or past DLC routes. If memory serves, Portland Terminal began life as a 3rd party payware route before being "adopted" by RSC. Could someone now make a few alterations and publish it on the Workshop? Wouldn't all of its assets be "fair game" for that? Don't know about its unique rolling stock, though.

The following section appears in the Portland Terminal users' manual:

Company names and logos:
Company logos are typically obtained from or adapted from images appearing on the web sites of the respective companies and in most cases are registered trademarks of those companies. They are reproduced in this route under the fair provisions of US and international copyright law.

From my point of view, having their colors and logos reproduced in a railroad simulator that never intentionally shows or describes anything that might be detrimental (eventual simulated "crashes" are obviously, well, simulated and do not reflect reality in any way) enhances rather than detracts from a company's image. Yet SP and now, evidently, Pan AM Rail, defy fair use of images easily and publicly available. Or are these route or trademark withdrawals simply examples of corporate paranoia on the part of DTG/RSC?
On the other hand, having observed slightly altered product trademarks in numerous routes, I have to wonder why route makers do not simply incorporate corporate colors and symbols with slight variations, thus avoiding the issue completely. The whole issue strikes me as much ado about nothing (note to self: use this as a play title???).

One more possibility: Portland Terminal has been withdrawn due to some recent disagreement between DTG/RSC and GTrax Simulations or Rick Grout or both? !!det!! !*don-know!*

!!jabber!! !!howdy!!
