Merging of Steam forums for Railworks and Train Simulator

Unread postby mrennie » Fri May 30, 2014 4:14 am

This notice has just appeared in the Steam forum for TS2014:

DTG_Admin [developer] 11 minutes ago
Important notice: Old Railworks Forum
Any long term players of Train Simulator maybe aware that before Steam introduced the Community Hub there was a Railworks Steam forum. Until now that forum has continued in parallel to this forum. Today Steam has informed us that over the next week or so they will be closing that forum and redirecting all traffic to the Community Hub.

If you still use the old forum please back up or copy any posts which you would like to keep for your records.

That means I won't be able to use Steam anymore. The jerks did a mass banning a few months back, and I'm one of the people that got perma banned, even though I did nothing wrong.
Not that I want to go back to their propaganda machine at the community hubs. They block any kind of negative comment over there.

Here's an example of something I said that was completely deleted by RSC.

Agreed re Free Roam, I tired of this very quickly and contrary to the first post it is very much *not* a way to create your own trains and drive them, as you're totally constrained to the few that are already placed - which are normally all the same anyway.

Me:
I have several Free Roams with all kinds of equipment that I placed. In fact I created the entire Free Roams in question.
There are certain people here making statements that are utterly untrue.
It's pretty obvious who's actually done Free Roams and who hasn't... or at least aren't proficient at using the editor...

Mass bannings....?

Oh dear. Let's hope for the best on Steam. I personally hope they don't go and start picking people to ban because they have to. !*not-ok*!

Until Bob finds the "Mass ban" button.

Hint: Administrator Control Panel, Users, Advanced, "Ban them out. All of them."

Actually what I want is a button to lock threads that are older than 6 months. Not many people here I would actually consider banning. Everyone has good days and bad days.

How about a "mass bun" button: hot crossed, in these circumstances, sounds about right. And at "one-a-penny, two-a-penny", even the perennial misers would be pleased.

FYI I think we have kicked three people out since we took over and it was because they were cluttering up the forum with serial posting. One of them is back and is a good citizen. It's not a thing that is done often, We are often accused of bullying, however that's the price of admission. No one makes anyone post here so deal with the grumpy marine and the semi-retired CEO who has never suffered fools very gladly. That's the deal. Most of us are having a lot of fun.

Ohhhhhhhhh, no no no no no no no.......................................... !*not-ok*! **!!bang!!** !*not-ok*! *!sad!* !*not-ok*! Noooooo........... !*!grrr!*!

*sigh* It was such a neat, cozy little place to hang out. Seems like mostly Brits/ Euro's, but cool folks. OK, 99.8%. Now it will be joined with/ moved in with that assorted rabble that make up the Community Forum??????????

Why punish us? I have never read anything constructive as far as advice or help in that Community pool of .............. As Eric said, most stuff gets deleted by RSC/ DTG Admins if it's in any way derogatory towards them.

I still have interests in some other areas of the Steam Users' Forums so I'll still visit. But having joined there in 2009 because of the need for help with Railworks, this is not nice or cool. Not gonna love it. !*not-ok*!

I'm a very good boy (more like old f..t) these days, ever since I had the chip fitted. !*YAAA*!

As regards Steam RW forum, I think I posted over there about twice - of little value when there are more specialist sites such as this and several others where you can have a reasoned conversation.

In their defence, I have to say that if I were the DTG Admin, I'd delete a lot more posts than they do. I think they are over-tolerant of some of the complete and utter rubbish (ill-informed commentary) that gets posted there. Some of it isn't just rubbish, it's defamatory, and in some cases is deliberately inflammatory. I go there now to try to help spot them and report threads of that kind so that they can be deleted as soon as possible. It happens even more at the weekends. I think the trolls know that the admins have a home life too and pay less attention at the weekends, so if they post on a Friday evening something that's intended to generate racial hatred, it's got a better chance of lasting more than a day. I managed to get a couple of trolls banned two weeks ago - what they posted is so bad, I can't even repeat it here without risking causing further offence. So, just saying, be prepared for seeing some utter junk there.
