You can turn off DLC now

Latest steam update lets you turn any DLC off. Might come in handy.

Thanks for the information, but I'm a bit confused by it. Turn off? In what sense? For example, would turning off a large DLC route lead to an increase in frame rates on remaining routes? Oh, yes, and how is this accomplished?

Right click on TS 2014 link in your library and go to properties. Then choose the DLC tab and you get a list of your DLC with check boxes. Uncheck and they un install.

Increase FPS, I don't think so ;) how about freeing up room on your HD? Or you just don't like a particular item any more and you can not just delete it as it keeps coming back. I am sure you can come up with another reason or 2. Probably no more than that. But it won't speed anything up.

Long overdue and a handy option IMHO. !!*ok*!!

Meaning you can now select which of your purchased DLC will install on your local computer.

It could be handy, but a person better be careful what they delete, since it might affect a third party route, or workshop item.
Ruhr Seig comes to mind for me. *!twisted!*
A more useful thing would be the ability to sell off an unwanted route.

Thanks, Bob, but it seems to me that "turn off" and "un-install" are two entirely different things. Am I correct in guessing that re-checking a previously unchecked box would download and install that DLC item again? What about a cache integrity verification: would that bring back the unchecked items again? Lastly, please post a link to the source of your information?

I do not know if it will do all that or what it will do. I got a Steam update and you can see all the patch updates listed in there. It will tell you what it did. Not sure how to find it as I only see it when there is an update. But thats where the info in this update is.It is not a DTG update but a Steam update.

Eric - most, if not all, sellers of DLC do not refund anything at any time due to the nature of the product. You're downloading bits and bytes, not a physical product, so it's seldom (dare I say NEVER) refundable, and it's stated in the Terms and Conditions.

Fortunately, having been a teacher for many years taught me to admit my own ignorance. "I got a Steam update and you can see all the patch updates listed in there", you wrote. I'm sure that I got the same update, but where and how can I "see" this information? You'd think I'd know this by now (I go back to the first version of this sim), but I've managed to remain an information virgin--not so unusual for me, come to think of it. In the Army, I was almost always among that "10% who didn't get the word".

WHen you are prompted to get an update, at the bottom of that little window is a list of all the past updates. For some reason the other day I actually click onthe list and the top one opened up and displayed all the things that were updated. I will see if I can find another link to it somewhere when I am playing around tonight.

I don't want a refund, I want to be able to sell a unused route to someone else, losing it at my end of course.
A person could sell an unwanted route or DLC to the highest bidder, then Steam would permanently delete it from your PC the next time you log on. That's how I see it.
But in the real world, we are permanently stuck with routes and DLC we never use.

Depends whether it deletes just the Route folder, or the associated Assets folder too. Certainly a useful feature - in effect a kind of Steam based version of MSTS train store - as I have a number of routes and rolling stock add-ons purchased over the years which I barely looked at (original NEC, Donner etc.).

Would be nice if we could sell the digital key and have Steam permanently remove from our account, but like selling a "C" movie on Ebay - if it's that bad no one would want to buy it anyway!

Thanks, Peter: that's just what I was looking for and I'll add it to my bookmark list.

Quoting from the update description in question: "DLC can now be disabled in the DLC properties page for a game". That sounds as though the DLC in question is not removed from one's installation, but simply "disabled" (or, "differently abled", for those differently vocabularated). As someone else has pointed out, this would have to be done with care, since a number of routes, for example, depend upon resources contained in other routes; and the same goes for interrelationships between all types of DLC, come to think of it. Since the disabling seems to be just as easily reversed, no harm would result from it, just more frustration and confusion: so what's new?

OP
I just tried this with the Holiday Express and unticked it in Steam DLC opened TS2014 - it was not there.
Navigated to railworks\content\routes and it had been DELETED.
So it does seem to remove the route from your install on your hard drive.
