Why would I get an alert at 21.9 mph with track speed at 50 mph?

This is a the Dash 9 CSX.

The brake on overspeed box is not checked in the options screen.

I do remember that there was a post or readme obout overspeed in the Dash 9's but I can't remember where I saw it.

Hope someone can help me solve this issue.

Did you push the alerter? Maybe the Alerter is working on the Dash-9?

Thats the problem the alerter is working, but why is it coming on at 21.9 mph when the track speed is 50mph?

Its acting as if the track speed is 20 MPH. It has me stumped

That's not a speeding alert. If it was, you'd see your speed in red text in the hud. The speeding graphic shows a speedometer image like below. I think the one you're getting is an alert saying "The limit is about to change!" or "Acknowledge that light!". Try hitting Q when you see it and see if it clears. That's at least a step.

Could it be a temporary speed restriction on the track? There are some of these that show up in the Fort Kent to Eagle Lake add-on, which do not show on the F3 screen until you are right on top of them. It's a bit of a bummer when you first come across them and get an alert even though you are following the limits you know about, but once you know where they are it's not a problem.

Hi! In real NA railroading, if throttle, brakes or Alerter is not activated within a certain period of time, the Alerter comes on. Do not know if this happens with any of the RW engines, or the Dash 9 in particular. Cheers; Chuck F.

Yep, If you don't manipulate the controls or push the horn or bell buttons, then you have to push the alerter button every 25 seconds.

Okay is there anyway to turn this off as it's a real pain in the butt. When it goes into alert the engine shuts down and brakes are set to 100% no matter what you do. Hitting the alert button with the mouse pointer is rather difficult at times, and engine will not restart until a full stop is reached.

You're supposed to hit the Q key. It's just telling the computer you are still awake at the controls so it doesn't need to put the emergency stop on.

Honestly I didn't realize the alerter actually works.

Sorry gang I do not like this function.

On my system the Q key does not always disable the alerter, sometimes it works on the first try and sometimes it takes four or five and other times by the time you get it to stop its too late. A real pain in the keaster.
Also you have to be in the cab to hear the warning, so if you are outside the cab and happen to miss the alert thingy it can be too late and a stopping you go.

I can see were my use of dash 9's will be severly limited. Nothing against anyone the models are great and some have spent a lot of time in developing them. I just elect to not use them with this function.

I will continue to build my route and be a follower and contributor ( I hope) to this hobby.

Hope I have not stepped on anyones toes, just one mans opion and did not mean to offend anyone.

The alert cancel works 100% of the time for me in all trains without issue. You might want to look up RW support to see if there's not some way you can correct the issue you're having before just deciding that that feature simply doesn't fly with you and you won't stand for it...

I'm not so familiar with the Alerter, but in the Game Option there's options to turn-off various warnings (which I have most warnings off). Perhaps turning-off some of them might help?

Does anybody know if the SD40-2 has a functioning alerter. I noticed that it has an alerter reset button ("ATS resert"), but I haven't ever had the alerter go off.
