I haven't got any update and have been on and off Steam and Railwork several times.

Do you have Marias Pass? That's what it was for.

EDIT: Did a game verify cache and had an update. So much for auto-updates. !*not-ok*!

Lighten up. I was merely pointing out the coincidence of the update timing proximity.

And yes....steaming pile is the word I'm hearing too. Oh joy!

Can't wait to get Marias Pass! Did this update improve the shadow fill-in distance on this route? Based on videos... it seems pretty short. !**conf**!

No it did not do that and I never went back and looked at the Challenger to see what it was if anything. At work but will look tonight.

So now I gotta find out what this large Trainz 12 update is about. It's the only update I can recall ever having for it since I got it 75% off on a Steam sale almost 6 months ago.

GSkid-> I was curious what are some, and what you think about the differences between Train Sim.2013 by Railworks and Trainz 12? I don't possess the latter, but have always been curious about it. Whats Your overall impression of it?

Tom,
That's way off topic. If you want to talk about that either PM him or go over to the Jungle. There is a conversation going on about that.

Thanks for the timely intervention, Buzz!

I'm just wondering how one knows that an update has occurred. Does this require camping out in front of the computer? I'm not asking about specific files or whatever that get updated, just that an update occurred at all and how large it was.

!*don-know!*

Tom when I get an update I cant do anything else while it is trying to figure out if I need an update. I log into Steam when I am ready to play otherwise it is not connected or running. So I log in and if there is an update coming, my mouse turns to a spinning cursor and I cant do anything but wait and within a few minutes, the Railworks link in my games library turns gold and a percentage is displayed. At the bottom of the screen is a link telling something is downloads and you can click it to go to the downloading page and see what game is being updated and how big of an update.

If you run Steam all the time I guess you wont see it like I described. I also have ALL the DLC and 193 other games on Steam. So my update process could take a while. Like it takes 20 minutes to refresh the package manager in order to package a scenario. I have too much stuff.

BTW I am almost ready to get you those dummy signals. Got screenshot collected and getting ready to write. I didn't forget ;)

Thanks for the information, Bob. And don't hurry with that signaling gizmo ... I'm completely caught up in preparations to depart for Italy next week.
