Engine Weight

This is the first time I've seen a Engine Weight on a Sp Sw1500.

What is that mean?

It means the engine weighs 248,000 pounds. !**duh*!!

Pfffft! Lightweight! Modern road units are 207-210 tons, over 400k lbs. Makes me wonder in 40 years what the railroads are going to be switching the branches and twig-lines with.

but does it mean the weight of the locomotive? or puller?

But this is not a road unit - those are expected to be heavier - this one's just a switcher.

All diesels are lightweights; the H-8 Alleghany weighed about 1,000,000 lbs and it ran on sidings of lighter rail than we have today. !!jabber!! *!lol!* Wish I had been around to feel the ground tremble when one of those went by!
