I apologize for not being able to find where this came from but someone a while back asked if there was anything being done on adding this loco to the sim. Here's the answer.

Well I hope it is finished for our sim. The Silverton route needs a complete loco bad and I don't think we'll be getting one from Gtrax.

Rick (GTrax) is who got back to me and said that Bazza had taken this project over. Since he is working as a hobbyist it is unknown when he will be done however he plans to release it for both Open Rails and Rail Works.

Very good news! Maybe Bazza can set up a donation link somewhere on a page. I'd be happy to kick in to help make this a reality.

This is how it works.

  • Barry "Captain Bazza" Munro contributed his K-27, an MSTS model, to the D&S route project.
  • The model was converted to RailWorks format by me for inclusion in the route package.
  • The "project" Buzz referred to is the K-36, not the route.
  • Barry didn't "take over" the K-36 project so much as he "took it on." Prior to that nobody else was making or planning to make a K-36.
  • Other than as a contributor of assets, Barry has no association -- past, present or future -- with the D&S route itself or its distribution.
  • Like most of us, Barry is a hobbyist. (Oh, and a really talented model builder, too!) The K-36 will be finished when and only when Barry declares it to be finished.
  • At that point the K-36, including the tender and cab, will be converted to RailWorks format by me,
  • Both the Open Rails and RailWorks versions of the K-36 will be offered as freeware.
  • G-TraX is the sole sponsor of the D&S route. By contractual agreement with the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, all earnings, less direct expenses, are donated to the Durango Railroad Historical Society.

Hope that clarifies things.

Thanks Rick for the information. I don't think many of us would complain about making a 'donation' for the Durango Railroad Historical Society if you decided to go that way.
