Reinstall Mods Utility

Unread postby fecrails » Wed Mar 06, 2013 8:10 am

Is the v1.0 reinstall utility posted by Machinist back in May the latest version or are there updates that I missed? I've never used the utility and I just wanted to make sure I use the latest version before I get started with it. Also, for anyone thats used it, please comment on any tips or experiences you've had with it too. *!!thnx!!*

I just started using Machinist's Reinstall Mods Utility. I doubt if an update will ever be necessary. The .BAT files that he has designed and built use basic "nut and bolts" MSDOS commands. Very simple but quit eligant. As he says in his readme.pdf, it just takes just Two Clickz...and your done.

The only reason why a change would be made to the script is if Railwork's folder structure would change, which is unlikely.

The principle is very simple and basic:
1 - when you add a new add-on, you install it into Railworks and also to a copy of the Railworks folder structure;
2 - when you want to reinstall all add-ons, you run the script which just copies everything over the regular Railworks installation.

Step 1 is the important step. Step 2 is just a shortcut, you could achieve the same result by dragging the Railworks folder from the copy to the original. The PDF document is just explanations and background information.

Thanks for the replies. I'll set it up and save some time and frustration after the next steam verification. !!*ok*!!
