The new Eula and the needed upgrading of all my items I have built.

Unread postby jpetersjr » Thu Sep 27, 2012 3:46 pm

Well, it looks like I'll have to upgrade all the readme's from everything I built for Railworks 3 so it will all abide by the new Eula.

I will have everything removed from the file library so I can upgrade all of it.

All my items from Railworks 2 will be being discontinued and will no longer be available in the file library any longer.

Everything for Railworks 3 I will update and then re-upload it as I go, it won't be down for good, just for a while. If you haven't downloaded my items yet I'd suggest you do it now before it's removed for upgrading. You are freely allowed to include the items with your routes when you use it.

May I suggest that you hang on a bit please Jonathan, some of your TS2012 assets are used by numerous folks for their freeware layouts that can still be downloaded, a few people have already voiced their concerns over TS2013 and going back to RW3, so, they may require your freeware content from RW2 still and it would be a huge shame if your items were subsequently missing.

Most of my earliest buildings were too 3d and were extremely heavy on polygon level because I didn't know then what I know now and they had too many problems. As well, a lot of them were also of a incorrect size for their number of floors and they now glow in the game as well. So, I wouldn't advise to use any of them on your routes. Back then when I built those I was still learning and hadn't yet learned how to model like I do now. If I still modeled now like I did then all my skyscrapers wouldn't have been possible because they would have crashed the game just to place one. Now, my skyscrapers hardly effect the scene at all because they're so low on polygon level.

The good ones, such as my classic trailer homes I plan on redoing for Railworks 4 as well as the water tower.

Also, I expect that RSC won't be changing their Eula, I highly doubt that they will and if they come looking here I want my items to appear as correct in their eyes, especially if they look at the readme.

I want to try to put night windows on some of them, but I fear that if I did that RSC would be even more interested in wanting to use my buildings, so I'll probably just leave them like they are. Other then fixing a couple basic problems with a couple of them.

My first ones to be updated will be the small items, such as the cars and trucks, and the drive in restaurant. I just don't want them online until all the readme's are correct to what the Eula states.

Because believe me, I hate to have to update anything, but sometimes it just has to be done. At least at most it will be a simple update and won't take as long. I'll probably be uploading most of the updated files almost all at once so it will also be easier on the admins if they don't have to replace a bunch of old files with new ones and just replace the file back to where it was.

Just letting you know that I have deleted all 37 of your files from the library.

I'll begin upgrading now.

Because the the Eula the readme has to be absolutely correct now and the easiest way to do that is have them offline for a while until they are correct to what the Eula states.

I just realized I forgot one file of yours.

Do you want that one deleted too?

No, because it wasn't made in the editors so the Eula would have nothing to do with it.

Why can't people just hold on, everyone is spazzing out, geez.

You got that right.

Agreed, lets let them sort this out before we freak out. I highly doubt anyone from RSC will be after your files and court pursuit.

.....Got two of the items readme updated and ready for re-release once Papaexpress and Artimrj are ready for them.

I will be editing some more readme's, but some of the items are in for a much deeper editing and will take much longer to get ready. Since I'll be deleting unseen faces on those ones and making them much better on polygon level. I can expect that when I re-release those few ones they'll work much better then they have ever done before.

That will mean hopefully no more frame rate change when you run through a area with more of these older assets of mine.

Afterwards I'll further edit some old assets from Railworks 2 to work for the game, but they will have to be re-done from scratch to be ready for the sim. I will redo the vintage high school from scratch and redo some of the other old buildings and they will be re-released in one single set, with no longer all the problems that came over with them in the last big update.

First to get my much deeper re-editing will be my vintage houses and then my two bridges.

Also, I've decided that I'm going to eliminate Downtown Buildings Pack 2 and Downtown Buildings Pack 3 and all 3 sets will be combined into one single set since they all are in the same folder anyways. Also I'll add the other two skyscrapers I've been working on and the new apartments that would have been part of set 4. After that all new downtown buildings will go into a different folder to keep down the file size.

Got the two items that I've already upgraded uploaded back to the library, they should be available tomorrow morning. What is getting re-released first are the 1960's cars since they're a quick update.

Nope! They won't be available this morning. PapaXpress and I still have to find the time to get together over Skype so I can show him how to add stuff.
Give us a couple of days or so.

Besides, there's already been 12 files uploaded which is going to add to the time needed to add them.
