SBHH and Sherman Hill

Unread postby AdmiralLeviathan » Thu Sep 20, 2012 8:59 pm

Hey guys. . . I preordered TS2013, I got the update fine and all, I can play the game fine except that I'm having problems with Sherman Hill. On the start-up screen it acts like I haven't bought it (when I click "Select" it takes me to the store page). The locomotives and route show up in Quickdrive and other route lists, but when I try and use the assets from the route or try and play the route the game crashes with the "Something Bad has Happened" error.

I am absolutely certain that my pre-order of the game went through fine since "Railworks 2013 Preorder" appears on my games Library.

Any ideas what might be going on? I already tried to verify cache but that hasn't done anything.

If TS2013 pre-order still shows in the games list, exit Steam. Once you restart Steam, it should download the necessary files.

I'll give that a try. I guess that should have been the first thing I tried before coming here *!embar*! . Restarting usually fixes things like this.

I have had some other problems with this too. Sherman Hill works fine for me, but I get the SBHH error when I try to put in my G trax UP passenger coaches and click on the train. Also, my Challenger's whistle is completely silent !*not-ok*! The bell works fine, and it runs fine, but that whistle is essential to me. any help would be appreciated! !*salute*!

I've got the same issue...original whistle is fine but mod one is silent.

also, the DD40X ran the 1st time, but now the SB error appears every time I click it. It seems like anything not made by RSC won't work anymore. I haven't even tried D&SNGRR, but I would hope it works.

Anything from the original Railsimulator US tab under kuju gave me this error. *!rolleyes!* Let's hope a few tweaks are in order, but this is only day 2

***Correction, only when it's attatched to cars does it set off *!rolleyes!*

I had this problem with some of my models on London Brighton. It was because I had aliased couplings to Kuju ones. As part of speeding up route loading, default Kuju items aren't loaded automatically with a route anymore. So if you have aliased couplings and the whistle, that will be what the problem is. Non existant couplings will cause a crash when you click on a train. Other things like sounds just won't happen if aliased to an asset folder that isn't enabled in that scenario.

So if this is the case, you need to enable the assets of whatever folder it was you aliased your couplings to (click on the blue cube in the scenario editor and select that provider from the list and tick the box- I'm sure you knew that, but I've put it for newer users in case they have the same problem), within each scenario you use for that route. Alternatively, do what I did in desperation and make some couplings! :D Being 3 link British couplings they won't help you I'm afraid.

Hope this is all that is happening and helps you.

Cheers

Ouch! That's gonna break a lot of mods!
That's the kind of change that should have been evaluated and disclosed to all users.

Strange way to implement asset management too - shouldn't all files referenced by blueprints be loaded along with the assets? This has no relationship to scenarios.

About this subject, and in order to avoid duplicated post, here are my first (and incipient) conclusions about the new and old way game cache is being managed:

Actually, it's the Challenger whistle from trainsim.com. I had overwritten thedefault whistle, and it worked fine before. (there was no realiasing) The defalt works, and Ieven put th Big Boy's on and it works. Back to silent when not RSC made !*don-know!*
