What I like best about TS2012 is simple. It's the graphics.

That is what draws me to TS1012. The engines look big and take center stage on the screen. In addition the routes and the scenary in them look very good too.

The best view I like is the coupled view. (I love to watch the 2 couplers connect.)

I know MSTS was good but I never could figure out how to drive those trains just like I couldn't drive the trains when this sim first came out. (had trouble with the braking with all the different options and knowing when to use them.) My main problem is that I like to look at all the trains and scenary around the engine to pay close enought attention to driving the engine. So I gave up and went to Trainz for about 10 years.

But when I found out last December that they had come out with TS2012 with its new driving hud with the sliders and showing what's ahead I came back and Tranz has become a very small object in my rear view mirror. *!lol!*

I also like the scenarios writers out there. For the most part they make very good scenarios that I can follow.
And RWA with this forum only enhances my enjoyment of this sim.

While the graphics are the most important things I like about TS2012, it's all the other items combine that keep me playing this sim.

I wrote this last January and it is still true:
"A couple of years ago, I was trying MSTS, driving a shiny, spotless, bright orange BNSF Dash9 that made a feeble rumble and no smoke, in a grayish world without shadows and few trees and I was thinking that's not it, that's not what I want. I want old, rusty Alcos and Geeps in faded colors with oily streaks, belching black smoke and random parts with deafening roars and asthmatic coughs, dragging squeaky, battered hoppers uphill on an overgrown short line. I want immersion, a real 3D, swaying cab, dynamic shadows, track rumble, hissing air, coupler sounds, radio chatter.

Last night, driving one of roinuj's rusty CN widenose SD40-2s on Bay of Quinte, with simer4's SD40 sound pack, Kali's SD40w physics and krellnut's wagon sounds, in RW3 with TSX and shadows, I thought, we're getting there, man, we're getting there."
Over the hill and gathering speed
