ES44 10-Engine Sound Pack Teaser

Unread postby krellnut » Fri Jul 13, 2012 10:44 pm

On the heels of our SD70 Sound And Light Pack comes the ES44 Engine Sound Teaser. This pack uses the default Kuju ES44. This pack will have only two locos with total lighting and helpers set up for them. Expansion pack to come later. We hope you enjoy the video, and feel free to comment. Thanks.

I agree, first the sound is excellent and I want them. Second how did you modify the HUD to be semi transparent?

Thanks for the comments, and the hud is by Marleyman. There's a thread on here about it, don't know where. I tried to attach here, to big. PM me, and I'll send you the mod.

That's like saying these engine sounds don't sound like GE's either, but that's one of the reasons I'm also doing multiple sets. Just listen how different the idles are, same model of engine. And the compressor sounds are recorded with that idle, idle and compressor on same loco. You have no idea what your talking about. If there's one thing I've learned about getting all these sounds is, no two same model of loco sound identical to each other and that includes the compressor.

Holy misalignment! Yeah, for sur it is, intentionally. The default lignment put your nose almost int the winshield, mine leet you see more of the instrucments and levers, and even if you play FoV=55 (instead of default FoV=65), default cabview becomes even worse, while mine still have a good and wider enough view of in cab. Anyway, with Raildriver since almost one year long I can play far of my keyboard and mouse (only use mouse to drive when I wanna zoom in headout view), I can sit comfortably on the dad's chair on TV Room and play with RD far from the desktop (same as the joypad of the new technology, same keyboardless and mouseless, but with much more buttons to control the engine). !*roll-laugh*!

Sounds amazing just like the SD70 pack. I don't know what the other poster was saying is wrong with the compressor, sounds fine to me.

The HUD is all in Data\textures\frontend, if you want to mess with it; they're just TGA files, you can open them in any paint package. The actual layout isn't editable, it's custom built by a Kuju tool ( you can tell I tried to edit them once :) ) but you can just repaint the gui like any other repaintable thing.

Back to GEs. I do like these soundpacks, I just can't stand driving stock RW engines anymore :P

When you all get the pack, you'll notice that each helper has a different compressor sound in loop (up to 2 minutes), simply amazing, it gave a pretty touch in realism. Only seating in each cab 2 minutes long to notice all these details. IMHO, Krellnut overcame himself concerning to details and different sounds sets of each engine in this ES44 pack, as for me ES44 pack is sounding even better than SD70. !*drool*!

Ah! and a note is important here, by my own: Krelnut sounds is 48Mhz, ie very high quality therefore full of details, subltles and nuances. So, as Krell as already said above, as better the audio card (I would add, and speakers) you own as better you'll listen to the sounds. I've been testing with headphones, with the pc 2.1 speakers system and with the 7.1 home theather sound of my TV's Room and the differences among those 3 different systems are huge!

About the HUD mod I rather use this one (is even more transparent and let you see more of cab interior), also by Marleyman:
