Adding lights to an existing route

Unread postby ozinoz » Tue May 22, 2012 6:39 pm

Hope somebody out there can shine some light on this....
While waiting for Tori to release an update to the magnificent COA route, I thought I might poke about and see about adding some street / depot / yard lights. Can somebody advise how to go about this with an existing route. Is there a tutorial out there that I have not found? Have never dabbled in the technical side of RW, but this is a super route and I thought I might tweak while waiting...

Thanks...

!*cheers*!

Hi,

With the TS2012 assets came a "dummy point light" object, which I think you can find in the misc scenery group in the route editor. I forgot what its exact name is , but it was something with "light" in in its name (duh). Sorry, but I'm not at home and can't fire up RW to look.

This object is a small black thingy (only visible in route editor) which marks the center of the light sphere. So if you place it between two buildings, for example, the facades of these buildings would get illuminated at night. It looks quite nice and as it's only the point light, not the shadow casting spot light, the performance hit is not so bad and you can use several of them in a scene.

I hope that this helps a bit.

Cheers,
Michael
