Some programs (Winzip, 7zip, Winrar) will let you explore an archive file AS IF it was a regular folder, but it is not.
Windows explorer does this for zip archives too. If you double-click on the installer executable file in this false folder, it will not work. This is normal.

You have to extract the archived files first, then you can execute the installer.

So for P&LE, after opening the "PLE_2012_Final.rar" that you downloaded, you have to extract the folder named "1 - PLE 2012 Final" (dragging it to the desktop will usually work). Then you can open it and double-click on "RW_RouteSetup.exe".

Never works for me, even after I've did all this. Still can't figure out why. I think it might have something to do with my computer.

Jp check your file path somehow mine got jacked up. It was doing just what you said. Route was listed but nothing was loading. Once corrected it loads and runs like a top. It should be like this. c:\ Program files (86)\steam\steamapps\common\railworks. If you for some reason changed the name of your steam folder you need to fix it in the box or it will keep installing it to the old folder. Hope this helps

It supposedly installed to this area, but nothing. No P&LE listed.

Hmm it took me twice from here to download it. Would it be an issue for someone to make it an rwp file?

In my routes list, it is listed at the very top: 1 - PLE 2012 something.

I just had an long test drive and had no problem. Quite enjoyable.
Very nice work, Thomas.
Such a huge route, I can't begin to imagine how many hours you put on it.

JP please see if you have these two folders:

'C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\railworks\Content\Routes\2b098aef-31a8-4a7f-8849-82dc337e2a34'
and
'C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\railworks\Assets\Developer\Devtest'

Also when I unzipped the RAR package I see the RW_RouteSetup.exe and a folder called 'Railworks'. Do you see the same?

well... not sure what to tell you. It appears the install happened correctly.

As for me, I get the dreaded SBHH when I try to load it up.

I had to download the route from Otto's site. The assets I downloaded from here. I was getting the samething as papa the dreaded sbhh. I uninstalled and deleted the file then went to otto's site and redownloaded. I have ran the whole route and it is amazing. Its huge, and you can run pretty much any variety of rollingstock from the golden age to modern times.
