Need Some Help with Basics

Unread postby Bioman » Sun Feb 26, 2012 9:22 am

Need some help. Is there a “users guide” for Rail Works 3 that shows basics such as setting switches from one direction to the other? !*hp*!

Also, when in 2D mode, sometimes it takes me a while to find my train especially on long routes; is there a hot key combination that would take me when in the 2D view straight to my train?

Also, is there a way to print a section of a yard map; I find it difficult to move around in the 2D view to identify land marks and read track/siding/industry markers and plan moves to complete assignments. !**conf**!

Any assistance is very appreciated.

The following is taken directly from the RW Quickstart Guide_Web.pdf that comes with RailWorks:

3.6.5 2D Map
The 2D map can be accessed via the map icon on the Driving Interface or by
pressing the “9” key.
At the top right are two icons. The red icon centres the map on the player
locomotive. The monitor icon brings up a list of display filters for turning off
items in the 2D map.
Navigate around the map by holding down the right mouse button and moving
the mouse. Alternatively you can use the left mouse button to drag and draw
an area which will be zoomed into. The mouse wheel can be used to zoom in
and out. A single right click or pressing the “9” key again will close the 2D
map.
While in the 2D map you can switch manual junctions by holding down the
Shift key and pressing the left click on the mouse.

There are several manuals that come with the game, as a newbie, I suggest you read them.

They are located here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\railworks\Manuals\EN

You can also find the manuals by clicking the "Tools & Docs" tab in the "Train Simulator 2012" window (before you hit the "Start Train Simulator 2012" button).

The "Open Folder" button on that tab will open the folder that dick8299 mentions. You can also find additional docs in that folder that Add-Ons have with them.

Have fun.
