Steam sales...

Unread postby ozinoz » Wed Oct 19, 2011 9:43 pm

Does anybody have an idea about what time of year Steam hold their sales? I was away and missed the Horseshoe Curve release offer and as it is going to cost me in excess of $100 to purchase enough wireless internet bandwidth to update from RW2 to RW3, I would like to try and time it all around a sale so I can pick up Horseshoe Curve at a better than $30 pricetag.

The two big sales are the Summer Sale (last week of June and first week of July I think) and the Holiday Sale (Christmas Sale). I think this one is held 2-3 weeks before X-mas. The Summer sale had everything 50% off with it being 75% off for 24 hrs. (picked up 2 routes one locomotive pack and another game all for $24) I don't see why it won't be the same for the holiday sale. *!greengrin!*

Also just about anything can pop up in the "Mid-week Sale" and random sales Steam does every now and again. So it's best to keep a eye on those also. *!!wink!!*

For the special sales that come out every so often I keep extra credit in my steam account.

They've also been known to have Easter and Thanksgiving sales on occasions. I think the only ones 'set in stone' are the summer and Christmas sales though, as mentioned.

I'm pretty sure that they will never put RW DLCs into the midweek/weekend sales, as well as into the dailys. Never say never, but all I've seen were either single games or certain bundles like a "gold edition" of a game with an included addon or so.

I looked up some steam product for rw3 then went direct to just trains and got myself a bargain, for £25 i got bristol - exeter, voyager train and extra scenarios, where on steam it would have cost me £37, you find a bargain here or there but thought id share my findings :)

i see steam has a sale on but sadly its just the standard or deluxe pack at half price, shame there was no dlc packs in the offer :(

might check just trains pages or other vendors :)

where else is good to pick up a few bargains?

It does say "new sales and specials each day" or something along those lines, perhaps DLC will show up over the next few days.

As somebody suggested, maybe around Easter. Sales unfortunately are not "pre announced" so you either have to hang off and just wait or bite the bullet and buy what you are after now and hope that when the next sale actually rolls round, there is some new DLC which you could get at the discount.
