replacing cars in a consist with RW Tools

Unread postby LionelDave » Fri Jan 27, 2012 1:19 pm

I'm running into a problem trying to get scenarios to load that are missing vehicles. The read me file usually says that you can use RW tools to repalce any vehicle you don't have.

I do not have a problem when I click on a consist in a scenario and it list all the vehicles in that consist. I have no trouble replacing them

But I'm having trouble when I click on a consist and I get a popup screen that shows the absolute address to where that vehicle(s) is suppose to be.

How do I change that vehicle(s) out to one I have?

example: C;\Program files(x86)\steam\steamapps\common\railworks\assets\greatNorthern\sgteamEra\railvehicles\freight\30ft-boxcar\outsidebraced\default\30ft_ob_generic1.bin

It sounds like there should be a simple way to do it but I just don't know what it is?

Dave

PS: should I be posting something like this in a different forum?

There's an excellent manual for using RW_Tools on Mike's site. Basically, you need to search for stock you do have in the column of windows just to the right of the window that shows the current consist and then click the appropriate swap button.

That's a great tutorial. Hadn't seen that one. Takes you through step by step.

Swap is spelled with an "a" though. :-)

This is a great tutorial but I all ready knew how to do it. I just didn't explain my self very well. My problem is that it works until I get to the bottom of page 3 of the tutorial Clicking on the consist does NOT bring up a list of the vehicled in the consist. Instead I get a popup window listing the absoulte address of each vehicle in the consist. (see my first entry to see what it looks like)
I don't know what to do when that happens and the tutorial doesn't covert that.

Any help would ab appricated

Dave,

I think that happens if they are missing. I believe you can ignore that and select a new piece of rolling stock to replace it.

Ah yes. This pop-up is a list of missing assets in the consist.
