My kind of sound - finally :)

I've so missed the railwaves clickety-clack sound drom MSTS. Now I've finally got it :)

If you want it too, you have three options, it depends on which DLC you have. In my collection I have three engines with the right kind of sound, the class 101, 33 and the HSC version of the F7.

the files you need from either of these assets is the BG_Modern.proxybin & BG_Modern.proxyxml (do a windows search to find them)

copy these and replace the ones for the engine you want to have the new clickety-clack sounds. (backup the originals first)
eg:
from: Assets\RSC\Class33Pack01\Audio\RailVehicles\Bogies\BG_Modern.proxybin (and the proxyxml)
to: Assets\Kuju\RailSimulator\Audio\RailNetwork\Bogies\BG_Modern.proxybin

copying to the kuju folder will affect all the stock diesel and electric locos!!!!

That's all there is to it

If you cant hear the new sounds from the cab, then you need RW_Tools to edit the OCCLUSION.BIN file for the affected loco
eg:
Assets\Kuju\RailSimulator\Audio\RailVehicles\Diesel\Class 55\Cab\Class 55 Cab Occlusion.bin

change the value from -1800 to -2400
note - this will increase the volume of most other cab sounds too.

The class33 has the best sounds I think, but they are still hard to hear until you get upto 25mph or more.

hope this helps :)

Every mod sound is always welcome. I'll look this pack soon. *!!thnx!!*

Edited later: could you indicate exactly where to download from? Windows search has found tons of links with those files' names.... *!sad!*

sorry - search your PC, not the internet :) just hit the windows start button and choose 'search'. Then copy the two files from the folder of the loco whose sound you want to use on another loco...

I'm really not great at typing instructions...

If you have the class33, class111 or cllass101 locos already installed on your system, or the HSC route, then I could tell you exactly where the files are that you need to copy over (all you're basically doing is aliasing one loco's (BOGIE? AXLE? WHEEL?) sound for another, but you have to have both locos already bought and installed).

For the HSC F7 and GP7 bogie sounds:
[railworks]\Assets\RSC\HorseshoeCurve\Audio\RailVehicles\Bogies

well - the class33 sound isn't so good after all, it keeps going silent. So my preference at the moment is the class111, but might try the HSC F7 too.

not sure how to do that. I could try humming it maybe?

this is the sound of a refrigerator: mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
and this is the sound of a man humming: mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

ok - perhaps not :)

on the other hand, the class111(dmu) pack also comes with the 8F stanier steam engine, the class02 shunter and a very nice little route :)
However, none of them are what you'd call 'overendowed' with skins.

Actually, I just ran the 166 in a copy of the original "Rail Simulator" I have on another PC, and the sound I'm on about above sounds very similar to that, if its any help?

It's strange, as I always hated the "Rail Simulator" joint sounds, but it may have been that horrible birdsong which always followed you around like a bad smell that ruined it for me. Anyway, the class111 sound in RW is similar but a little bit more rapid, and sounds better at high-speeds.

Hope that helps?

The class 111 sounds are pretty good, but overall the sound from the Genesis just hits all the marks for me. If anybody has that DLC I suggest you give it a try :)

to use it for the stock US locos copy these two files:
BG_Modern.proxybin
BG_Modern.proxyxml

from:
[railworks]\Assets\G-TraX\Genesis\Audio\RailVehicles\Bogies

to:
[railworks]\Assets\Kuju\RailSimulatorUS\Audio\RailNetwork\Bogies
(backup the originals first!)

and to use them for the stock UK and german diesel & electric locos copy the same two files
to:
[railworks]\Assets\Kuju\RailSimulator\Audio\RailNetwork\Bogies
(backup the originals first!)
